SaaS Industry Pioneer Howard Koenig Named Chief Executive Officer of Aruspex

San Francisco-Based Provider of On-Demand Strategic Workforce Planning Taps Former ADP Executive and Software as a Service Veteran to Lead Expansion

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 06/30/09 -- Aruspex, the leading Software as a Service ("SaaS") company solely focused on Strategic Workforce Planning ("SWP"), today announced that it has appointed Howard Koenig as CEO. Mr. Koenig joins Aruspex from France-based Sword Group (NYSE Euronext: SWP), where he headed up North American operations and strategic acquisitions for the global software provider.

"Howard's appointment is the culmination of a long and careful search for a leader that has demonstrated extraordinary stewardship of venture backed SaaS companies. Howard brings the vital combination of overseeing two startup SaaS successes compounded by deep domain experience in the Human Capital Management space -- we couldn't be more pleased," said John Dyson of Starfish Ventures, Aruspex's lead investor in the recent venture funding round.

Mr. Koenig surprised his peers and industry analysts when he left a secure role as Corporate Vice President at ADP in 1999 to take the CEO slot at EmployeeLife, a nascent Silicon Valley startup engaged in providing web-based access to health and welfare benefits enrollment and self-administration. EmployeeLife was transformed into BenefitAmerica when it was acquired by Unum Group in 2001. Mr. Koenig then guided San Francisco-based Citadon to a successful outcome when it merged with London-based BuildOnline to become CTSpace. Under Mr. Koenig's leadership, CTSpace was subsequently acquired by the Sword Group in 2008.

"Aruspex's market leadership in Strategic Workforce Planning and proactive talent management makes this an execution story," said Mr. Koenig. "To Aruspex's good fortune, the large enterprise software suite vendors have exhibited utter tone deafness when it comes to both SaaS and the very potent white space of Strategic Workforce Planning. Clearly, opportunities like Aruspex are few and far between -- I am energized by the accomplished team, proven technology and market traction."

"Having been in the IT field for many years, I believe the cloud computing chapter in the industry is an exciting one and I am proud to be a part of it," said National Reconaissance Office (NRO) Chief Information Officer Jill T. Singer Tuesday, as it was announced that she was one of 10 winners of the 2012 CloudNOW "Top Ten Women in Cloud" Awards.
2011 was a year of rapid adoption for public and private cloud services. Instant and on-demand server provisioning was the driving force behind the massive growth. On top, cloud server templates and script automation simplified application installation for simple and pre-defined application stacks, but have not targeted more complex enterprise application environments. In his session at the 10th International Cloud Expo, John Yung, CEO of Appcara, will discuss how 2012 will be the year for app...
As more enterprises are adopting clouds, the nature of cloud computing is changing. Previously, clouds were used to test applications or for non-mission critical applications. Today, enterprises are using clouds for cost-saving advantages and launching more mission critical applications that have defined performance needs. Building a cloud computing environment with on-demand access to compute, network, and storage resources requires an elastic infrastructure at multiple levels. Virtualization combined with x86 servers has transformed the way we scale out compute resources. Unfortunately, legacy Fibre Channel and iSCSI storage architectures are rooted in rigid mainframe-era designs, and are fundamentally mismatched with the dynamic, shared modern data center. In his session at the 10th International Cloud Expo, ...
