Gomez & SAVVIS Sign Channel Partner Agreement

Savvis to Resell and Use Gomez's Web Application Experience Management Platform for SLA Monitoring

LEXINGTON, Mass., July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Gomez, Inc. (www.gomez.com), the leader in Web application experience management, today announced that it has signed an agreement with Savvis, Inc. (Nasdaq: SVVS), a global leader in IT infrastructure services.

Under the agreement, Savvis will resell Gomez's industry-leading platform of Web application performance management solutions which are used by businesses to optimize the performance and availability of their Web and mobile applications. Savvis will offer Gomez's on-demand solutions as a value-added SaaS service, part of its hosting platform for businesses that are developing and deploying Web applications. Using Gomez's platform, Savvis' customers will be able to test and measure their Web applications from the "outside-in" - from the browser to the data center - to find and fix business-impacting performance issues that can occur anywhere in the Web application delivery chain.

Savvis will also use Gomez's platform to monitor the performance of its own managed hosting and cloud computing services. This will enable Savvis to independently validate its performance levels and monitor its contractual service level agreements (SLAs). This makes Savvis one of the first hosted service providers to offer SLAs that support levels of application performance from the cloud all the way to the end-user.

Savvis selected Gomez as its preferred Web application experience management provider based on its unique ability to test and measure Web applications across all browsers, devices and geographies, using the world's most comprehensive testing global network which spans more than 100,000 locations.

"It was important to Savvis to offer our customers industry-leading solutions for Web application experience management and in our opinion no other vendor could match the reach and scope of the Gomez Last Mile(TM) network, a distinct differentiator," said Brad Hokamp, SVP and General Manager, Hosting Business Unit at Savvis. "Being able to test Web application performance from the outside-in is fundamental to truly understanding how Web applications are performing for end-users. This relationship not only offers great value to our customers, but also gives Savvis a strategic edge with the ability to independently validate our SLAs."

"Savvis stands out as one of the most forward-thinking service providers. By both using and offering Gomez's solutions, they are adding to their value proposition and become a more attractive service provider to enterprises seeking to build and deploy Web applications," said Tom Meusel, Gomez's VP of Worldwide Channels. "This agreement underscores the strategic value that Gomez offers to managed services and cloud providers."

2011 was a year of rapid adoption for public and private cloud services. Instant and on-demand server provisioning was the driving force behind the massive growth. Building a cloud computing environment with on-demand access to compute, network, and storage resources requires an elastic infrastructure at multiple levels. Virtualization combined with x86 servers has transformed the way we scale out compute resources. Unfortunately, legacy Fibre Channel and iSCSI storage architectures are rooted in rigid mainframe-era designs, and are fundamentally mismatched with the dynamic, shared modern data center. In his session at the 10th International Cloud Expo, ...
