Citrix CTO to Speak at 7th International Virtualization Conference & Expo

Simon Crosby will discuss how the delivery of virtualization is being transformed

As virtualization becomes more widely deployed and enterprises look for new ways to leverage this revolutionary technology, says Citrix CTO Simon Crosby (pictured) the consumption and delivery of this technology is changing.

Crosby will be expounding on this theme in a breakout session at SYS-CON's 7th International Virtualization Conference & Expo, being held November 2-4, 2009, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA.

"Virtualization is no longer one-size-fits-all and confined to a specific area of the data center," Crosby notes, "but instead is proliferating within the data center and out to the user via the desktop and applications."

His session will provide IT organizations with a short- and long-term roadmap by focusing on the new delivery models for virtualization (including embedded hypervisors and managed services), what’s available today and what can be expected in the future, and best practices for deployment.

7th International Virtualization Conference & Expo
As Crosby's session wil underline, we are in the midst of a revolutionary change in how applications are sold, delivered, deployed and managed.

Virtualization cuts across just about all of what you might find in the data center: clients, servers, applications, storage systems, data networks, and security can all be virtualized to one degree or another. And chief executives are discovering that virtualization has the potential to not only improve the balance sheet, but strengthen competitive advantage and put a shine on the corporate brand.

Join us in Santa Clara, CA, at the 7th International Virtualization Conference & Expo and find out for yourself how the industry's leading practitioners are implementing their virtualization strategy.

The event is co-located with our 4th International Cloud Computing Conference & Expo.

There will be sessions on aspects ranging far beyond server virtualization to virtualization management tools and virtualized desktop infrastructure, para-virtualization, security and compliance issues, Green IT, cloud and datacenter filesystems, distributed I/O resource management, database management in virtualized environments, secure mobile device virtualization, and resource management and load balancing issues.

The Jevons Paradox suggests that when technological advances increase efficiency of a resource, it results in an overall increase in consumption. Writing on the increased use of coal as a result of technological improvements, 19th-century economist William Stanley Jevons found that these improvements led to the development of new ways to utilize coal. In his session at 19th Cloud Expo, Mark Thiele, Chief Strategy Officer for Apcera, will compare the Jevons Paradox to modern-day enterprise IT, e...

Complete Internet of Things (IoT) embedded device security is not just about the device but involves the entire product’s identity, data and control integrity, and services traversing the cloud. A device can no longer be looked at as an island; it is a part of a system. In fact, given the cross-domain interactions enabled by IoT it could be a part of many systems. Also, depending on where the device is deployed, for example, in the office building versus a factory floor or oil field, security ha...

If you’re responsible for an application that depends on the data or functionality of various IoT endpoints – either sensors or devices – your brand reputation depends on the security, reliability, and compliance of its many integrated parts. If your application fails to deliver the expected business results, your customers and partners won't care if that failure stems from the code you developed or from a component that you integrated. What can you do to ensure that the endpoints work as expect...

Enterprise IT has been in the era of Hybrid Cloud for some time now.
