New Unified Communications Solution from Sybase & Siemens

Sybase and Siemens Enterprise Communications Group mobilize today's Information Worker

Today Sybase and Siemens Enterprise Communications (SEN) Group (a leader in Unified Communications Solutions for the enterprise) announced a partnership that will provide customers with a fully integrated mobile and fixed line voice and data solution that supports and includes the management of a range of device types through a completely heterogeneous environment.

SiemensThe new solution combines Sybase’s leading mobile device management capabilities with the SEN Group’s leading-edge Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) technology providing a complete end-to-end solution that businesses can deploy to vastly simplify the management of a hugely diversified communications infrastructure. The solution will also help businesses to effectively manage operations such as inventory and expenses, logistics, mobile devices and applications.

Afaria will be fully embedded into the SEN Group’s HiPath MobileConnect V2.3, an enterprise solution that seamlessly unifies fixed enterprise VoIP, VoWLAN and cellular mobility.  The solution consists of two components:

  • MobileConnect Appliance
    • Located at the central site, sitting on the wired network between the WLAN and the SIP PBX
    • Continually monitors and manages mobile user sessions regardless of whether they are on the corporate or public network
  • MobileConnect Client
    • Software that resides on the dual-mode handset and works with the MobileConnect Appliance to navigate enterprise-cellular exchange

Enterprise mobility plays such a significant role in today’s personal and professional environments that customers require the highest level of support from proven experts,” said Terry Stepien, president of Sybase iAnywhere.  “As part of this widespread adoption and to fully empower today’s information workers, Sybase and Siemens are committed to helping enterprises overcome the management challenges accompanying rapidly emerging mobile technologies, including collaboration and unified communications.”

CloudEXPO Stories
The current age of digital transformation means that IT organizations must adapt their toolset to cover all digital experiences, beyond just the end users’. Today’s businesses can no longer focus solely on the digital interactions they manage with employees or customers; they must now contend with non-traditional factors. Whether it's the power of brand to make or break a company, the need to monitor across all locations 24/7, or the ability to proactively resolve issues, companies must adapt to the new world.
In his session at 20th Cloud Expo, Scott Davis, CTO of Embotics, discussed how automation can provide the dynamic management required to cost-effectively deliver microservices and container solutions at scale. He also discussed how flexible automation is the key to effectively bridging and seamlessly coordinating both IT and developer needs for component orchestration across disparate clouds – an increasingly important requirement at today’s multi-cloud enterprise.
Modern software design has fundamentally changed how we manage applications, causing many to turn to containers as the new virtual machine for resource management. As container adoption grows beyond stateless applications to stateful workloads, the need for persistent storage is foundational - something customers routinely cite as a top pain point. In his session at @DevOpsSummit at 21st Cloud Expo, Bill Borsari, Head of Systems Engineering at Datera, explored how organizations can reap the benefits of the cloud without losing performance as containers become the new paradigm.
We are seeing a major migration of enterprises applications to the cloud. As cloud and business use of real time applications accelerate, legacy networks are no longer able to architecturally support cloud adoption and deliver the performance and security required by highly distributed enterprises. These outdated solutions have become more costly and complicated to implement, install, manage, and maintain.SD-WAN offers unlimited capabilities for accessing the benefits of the cloud and Internet. SD-WAN helps enterprises to take advantage of the exploding landscape of cloud applications and services, due to its unique capability to support all things cloud related.
In this presentation, you will learn first hand what works and what doesn't while architecting and deploying OpenStack. Some of the topics will include:- best practices for creating repeatable deployments of OpenStack- multi-site considerations- how to customize OpenStack to integrate with your existing systems and security best practices.
