Zeus Software Now Available on Amazon EC2

The platform will make web development easier for companies and developers

Zeus Technology announced its flagship web traffic management solution, Zeus Traffic Manager 6.0, is available on the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2).

The solution gives companies access to extra computing power with the tools to deliver exceptional online services on a pay-as-you-go basis.

The platform will make web development easier for companies and developers. Using a simple web service interface, users can monitor and control web traffic and automate maintenance to ensure online services are always fast and available even during high peaks in web traffic.

Zeus is packaged on Amazon EC2 as an Amazon Machine Image (AMI). An AMI is a template from which virtual machines can be created.

Users create one or more ‘instances' of this AMI, where each instance is a Virtual Appliance with Zeus software preinstalled. To use Zeus Traffic Manager 6.0, companies simply need to log on to the instance and configure it.

Martin Gill, Director, HomeMade Digital, a digital service provider for major UK charities says, "When organizations need to respond to emergencies quickly, we need to scale their IT infrastructure and handle extra web traffic seamlessly. We've recently rolled out the full functionality offered by Zeus Traffic Manager 6.0 in the Amazon Web Services Cloud, as we feel it's the best solution available to help us do exactly what we need. By scaling fast when needs arise, reducing page response times and data transfer costs, we're able to keep our client's hardware costs to a minimum while still providing a very high quality of service."

"We are pleased that Zeus is leveraging AWS to extend to their customers the Cloud infrastructure that addresses the integration, security, and performance needs that businesses require," said Terry Wise, Director of Business Development for Amazon Web Services. "Amazon EC2 provides an ideal environment to help meet the demands of services like Zeus Traffic Manager, while providing on demand pricing that is cost efficient."

Paul Brennan, CEO, Zeus Technology comments, "Many enterprises need sophisticated web traffic management, particularly at the planning or production stages of web service development. Offering our solution on the Amazon Web Services Cloud gives customers the ability to tap into extra power for very little cost even during these early stages of development. Our unique software architecture addresses this need, making it an ideal fit for any application, whether they are currently operating in Amazon on EC2 or designed for future migration to the Cloud." otherwise.

Why are APIs so important in clouds? Do APIs have to be open? How fast or slow will standardization in the cloud be? Why is ensuring high availability for the cloud service critical? In his session at the 10th International Cloud Expo, Mårten Mickos, CEO of Eucalyptus Systems, will answer these questions and address cloud standards, APIs and the critical question: Will we end up with one, two or more competing cloud standards? The proliferation of device connectivity is redefining the functionality requirements and capabilities of many embedded systems as more and more of these devices look to leverage the “Cloud.” While many commercial software and hardware component vendors have begun to realign their value propositions to satisfy growing demand, commercial-off-the-shelf products (COTS) alone cannot meet every OEM’s needs. As a result, the Embedded Cloud has injected a new level of uncertainty and a new competitive ...
