CloudBerry Explorer for Amazon S3

AWS Import/Export accelerates moving large amounts of data into and out of AWS using portable storage devices for transport

CloudBerry Session at Cloud Expo

CloudBerry Lab has released CloudBerry Explorer v1.7, a freeware application that allows users to manage files in Amazon S3 buckets just as they would on their local computers.

CloudBerry Explorer allows end users to accomplish simple tasks without special technical knowledge, automate time-consuming tasks to improve productivity.

AWS Import/Export (http://aws.amazon.com/importexport/) accelerates moving large amounts of data into and out of AWS using portable storage devices for transport.

AWS loads your data directly onto and off of storage devices using Amazon's high-speed internal network and bypassing the Internet.  New version of CloudBerry Explorer automates the process of creating the manifest file and digitally signing it along with the job identifier with your AWS Secret Access Key and placing that signature file on the device.

As of last week you can store Amazon S3 objects in the new US-West (Northern California) Region. (http://aws.amazon.com/about-aws/whats-new/2009/12/03/aws-launches-the-northern-california-region/) This enables you to reduce data access latencies by storing your data near to your customers, your data centers, or your other AWS resources in Northern California. Newer version of CloudBerry Explorer supports US-West region.

CloudBerry Explorer is designed to work on Windows 2000/XP/Vista and Windows 7. Microsoft PowerShell command line interface allows advanced computer users integrate Amazon S3 storage access with other routines.

CloudBerry Explorer 1.7 for Windows is a freeware. CloudBerry Explorer PRO costs $39.99 (US).  You will continue to pay Amazon directly for their S3 charges.

Wide and cheap availability of cloud-based media services is upon us. With the transformations these services are already bringing to the consumption of music, video and interactive media, change has likewise come to professional workflows. 2011 was a year of rapid adoption for public and private cloud services. Instant and on-demand server provisioning was the driving force behind the massive growth. On top, cloud server templates and script automation simplified application installation for simple and pre-defined application stacks, but have not targeted more complex enterprise application environments.
