Nimbus Launches New Cloud Storage Solution

Powered by the Mezeo Cloud Storage Platform

Cloud Storage Session at Cloud Expo New York

LONDON and MIAMI, February 23, 2010 – Nimbus Technology (www.nimbustech.co.uk), a leading infrastructure hosting and cloud computing provider, today announced the launch of the Nimbus Cloud Storage Service powered by the Mezeo Cloud Storage Platform. Developed by Mezeo Software (www.mezeo.com), the Mezeo Cloud Storage Platform is a Web Services API-based cloud storage platform purpose-built for service providers. The Mezeo Service Provider Alliance Program offers service providers an accelerated time to market, providing complete support to deploy and monetize their cloud storage service, including branding support, training resources and marketing assistance.

The announcement was released in conjunction with Parallels Summit 2010 at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach in Florida. Mezeo is a Bronze Sponsor of the event, and is exhibiting in booth 9. The Nimbus Cloud Storage solution is hosted by the UK-based ThinkGrid, Mezeo Premier Hosting Provider, who will be speaking at the Parallels Summit.

“ThinkGrid is excited about the launch of the Nimbus cloud storage solution,” said David Pratt, COO at ThinkGrid. “Cloud storage will allow Nimbus customers to focus on their core business, and be agile and competitive. Most importantly, they can do so with the confidence that their files are available and secure.”

With the Mezeo Cloud Storage Platform, Nimbus Cloud Storage offers advanced file sharing and collaboration, content tagging and unparalleled access to stored files via WebDAV, Windows desktop, a rich Web browser client, as well as BlackBerry® and Windows Mobile® smartphone clients. The Mezeo Cloud Storage Platform offers end-to-end security, with SSL encryption of data as it is being transmitted and 256-bit AES encryption for files “at rest” on the server. The new Mezeo Sync Application allows users to select which folders they want to sync between the cloud and Windows desktop.

“More and more of our clients are looking for a highly flexible, secure and scalable cloud storage solution. We chose to partner with Mezeo because they performed best in our technical evaluation and provide users with true anywhere/anytime access to files with well-designed APIs for platform extensibility,” said Simon Rutt, Managing Director of Nimbus Technology. “Nimbus Cloud Storage will be especially attractive for our SME customers as they can gain all the benefits of cloud storage without having to think about the technology behind it.”

Nimbus Cloud Storage offers pay-as-you-go pricing and the ability to scale up and scale down as demand necessitates without having to add costly infrastructure. It allows customers to reduce costs and eliminate the burden of management, giving them the freedom to focus on their core activities.

“Cloud storage is ideal for the SME customer because it offers affordable, secure and easily accessible storage on a pay-for-use basis, said Steve Lesem, CEO of Mezeo Software. “With the new Mezeo Sync Application, Nimbus customers will have the extra confidence that they always have access to the right document. We are excited about the launch of the Nimbus Cloud Storage offering and expanding our reseller presence in the European market.”

When growing capacity and power in the data center, the architectural trade-offs between server scale-up vs. scale-out continue to be debated. Both approaches are valid: scale-out adds multiple, smaller servers running in a distributed computing model, while scale-up adds fewer, more powerful servers that are capable of running larger workloads. It’s worth noting that there are additional, unique advantages that scale-up architectures offer. One big advantage is large memory and compute capacity...
"When we talk about cloud without compromise what we're talking about is that when people think about 'I need the flexibility of the cloud' - it's the ability to create applications and run them in a cloud environment that's far more flexible,” explained Matthew Finnie, CTO of Interoute, in this SYS-CON.tv interview at 20th Cloud Expo, held June 6-8, 2017, at the Javits Center in New York City, NY.
Cloud applications are seeing a deluge of requests to support the exploding advanced analytics market. “Open analytics” is the emerging strategy to deliver that data through an open data access layer, in the cloud, to be directly consumed by external analytics tools and popular programming languages. An increasing number of data engineers and data scientists use a variety of platforms and advanced analytics languages such as SAS, R, Python and Java, as well as frameworks such as Hadoop and Spark...
The Internet giants are fully embracing AI. All the services they offer to their customers are aimed at drawing a map of the world with the data they get. The AIs from these companies are used to build disruptive approaches that cannot be used by established enterprises, which are threatened by these disruptions. However, most leaders underestimate the effect this will have on their businesses. In his session at 21st Cloud Expo, Rene Buest, Director Market Research & Technology Evangelism at Ara...

You know you need the cloud, but you’re hesitant to simply dump everything at Amazon since you know that not all workloads are suitable for cloud. You know that you want the kind of ease of use and scalability that you get with public cloud, but your applications are architected in a way that makes the public cloud a non-starter. You’re looking at private cloud solutions based on hyperconverged infrastructure, but you’re concerned with the limits inherent in those technologies.

Hardware virtualization and cloud computing allowed us to increase resource utilization and increase our flexibility to respond to business demand. Docker Containers are the next quantum leap - Are they?! Databases always represented an additional set of challenges unique to running workloads requiring a maximum of I/O, network, CPU resources combined with data locality.
