NetSuite Goes After "ALot" of Cloud Computing Business

Company Works With Vertro to Simplify Order Codes, Etc.

Do you like sports? Well, I do. And I like to see momentum start to build behind teams as they steadily improve over a few years, then seemingly come out of nowhere to win championships.

Such was the case with the 1980 San Francisco 49ers, who captured their first Super Bowl the following year, and the 1998 Wisconsin Badgers, who began a new tradition of Rose Bowl victories after lying dormant for decades. Next year, watch the Nebraska Cornhuskers, a team that should came within one bad official's decision of disrupting the entire college-bowl championship mechanism last fall.

Cloud Computing is doing the same thing within enterprise IT. This is not SOA or AJAX, ie, architectural or design approaches that at one time threatened to remake the world but were, in the end, proven just to be useful techniques. Cloud Computing has a momentum behind it now that will not abate until the idea of a local data center is as quaint as that of a bellows stoking the fire to heat the building.

Doesn't matter so much to me how well it works, but for the sake of Vertro, I hope it does, as the company is trading in penny-stock territory these days.

But in any case, this is yet another example of how the momentum is building...
