SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 05/03/10 -- Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ: RVBD), the IT performance company, today announced that it has appointed Edward J. Chapman as vice president of cloud storage acceleration products. Chapman's broad knowledge of the datacenter and successful track record in new product development will enable him to effectively lead Riverbed's product direction for cloud storage acceleration. Riverbed unveiled a portion of its product direction for accelerating cloud environments for enterprises and governments in November 2009.

Chapman joins Riverbed after fifteen years at Cisco Systems. In his most recent role, Chapman was vice president of product management, where he was responsible for leading the datacenter switching and storage strategy within the Server Access and Virtualization Business Unit. During his time at Cisco, Chapman's work included mergers and acquisitions in the datacenter space and driving strategic alliances with key partners such as IBM, Hewlett-Packard and EMC. Before moving into the Server Access and Virtualization Business Unit, Chapman was responsible for Cisco's entire storage networking portfolio, including the MDS product family. Chapman was awarded Cisco's Pioneer Award for Technical Excellence for his work on the Catalyst 6000.
