Open-Xchange Partners with Sachsen DV to Provide Hosted Groupware

Data center operator offers medium and large companies e-mail and groupware services based on Open-Xchange

Open-Xchange, a provider of business-class open source collaboration software, announced today that Sachsen DV, a leading data center operator for security critical applications, is launching business-class e-mail and groupware as Software as a Service (SaaS) for their mid-sized and enterprise customers based on Open-Xchange.

Sachsen DV addresses the specific needs of large enterprise customers with redundant infrastructure components, dedicated and high-availability server architecture, as well as 24/7 support. The company provides a high performance infrastructure and services that include monitoring, systems management, as well as support offerings for Open-Xchange. Customers can opt for additional services, such as long-term archiving and consulting services for migration and integration of e-mail and groupware.

"For our enterprise customers, e-mail and groupware are mission-critical applications that need to be up 24/7," said Herbert Roller Brandão, managing director of Sachsen DV. "With the introduction of Open-Xchange, we are offering our customers a cost-effective communication infrastructure that meets the highest standards of availability, security and privacy - that, at the same time, integrates with other applications."

Sachsen DV specializes in development, operation and management of security-critical IT applications. The company operates a TÜViT-certified data center in Leipzig, Germany, which is in accordance with banking standards. Sachsen DV operates IT systems of banks, financial service providers and mid-sized companies.

"Many medium and large companies still run e-mail servers within their own company, even though economic arguments recommend to source them to a service provider," said Rafael Laguna, CEO of Open-Xchange. "With Sachsen DV, we can point discerning customers with the need for individual and security-certified services to an experienced hosting specialist."

Open-Xchange is used by more than 15 million users worldwide as hosted and on-premises business-class e-mail and groupware - an increase of 80 percent in 2009. Open-Xchange Hosting Edition is the only groupware specifically designed to meet the needs of SaaS providers. With over 15 million users, Open-Xchange is now the world's leading technology supplier of groupware for web-hosting companies, ISPs, telecommunication companies and IT service companies. SaaS partners include 1&1 Internet - the #1 hosting company worldwide, Network Solutions - the #3 hosting company in the U.S., Versatel (Germany), Dotster (U. S.) and Hostpoint - the #1 hosting company in Switzerland.

The proliferation of device connectivity is redefining the functionality requirements and capabilities of many embedded systems as more and more of these devices look to leverage the “Cloud.” While many commercial software and hardware component vendors have begun to realign their value propositions to satisfy growing demand, commercial-off-the-shelf products (COTS) alone cannot meet every OEM’s needs.
