Appian and Amazon Web Services Accredited With Authority to Operate by U.S. Department of Education

Appian Anywhere, Built on Amazon Web Services, Is Certified Under FISMA

RESTON, VA -- (Marketwire) -- 08/30/10 -- Appian, a global innovator in enterprise and on-demand business process management (BPM) technology, today announced that it has received an Authority to Operate (ATO) from the U.S. Department of Education for the Department's Appian Anywhere application, which is built on Amazon Web Services.

The Appian Anywhere solution is a cloud-based BPM solution that has received an ATO from the federal government. The ATO was awarded after a rigorous and comprehensive assessment of the solution's management, operational, and technical security controls. The assessment was performed under the Federal Information Security Act of 2002 (FISMA) framework for managing information security for all information systems used or operated by a U.S. federal government agency or by a contractor or other organization on behalf of a federal agency.

"Amazon Web Services is pleased that the Appian Anywhere solution built on AWS has received an ATO from the Department of Education," said Terry Wise, Director of Business Development, Amazon Web Services LLC. "Government customers can now leverage the scalability, security and utility based pricing model of the AWS cloud computing platform, while meeting Federal security requirements."

Appian Anywhere, operating on the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), is a complete BPM suite available in the cloud as an on-demand Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) offering. It provides the reliability, security and speed of deployment required to support comprehensive process solutions via a subscription model.

"The combination of cloud computing and BPM supports the Administration's mandates for greater transparency, efficiency and collaboration within and across government agencies," said Matthew Calkins, President and CEO of Appian. "We are seeing increasing interest for our cloud solutions from government agencies, and this certification provides them assurance that we meet the stringent requirements for federal information systems."

The precious oil is extracted from the seeds of prickly pear cactus plant. After taking out the seeds from the fruits, they are adequately dried and then cold pressed to obtain the oil. Indeed, the prickly seed oil is quite expensive. Well, that is understandable when you consider the fact that the seeds are really tiny and each seed contain only about 5% of oil in it at most, plus the seeds are usually handpicked from the fruits. This means it will take tons of these seeds to produce just one bottle of the oil for commercial purpose. But from its medical properties to its culinary importance, skin lightening, moisturizing, and protection abilities, down to its extraordinary hair care properties, prickly seed oil has got lots of excellent rewards for anyone who pays the price.
