Asigra Named One of the Top 20 Cloud Storage Vendors for 2011

Cloud Backup Leader Recognized for Public and Private Cloud Backup Platform

Asigra Inc., a Cloud Backup Recovery, and Restore (BURR) software provider since 1986, was named one of the Top 20 Cloud Storage Vendors for 2011 by CRN Magazine. Additionally, Asigra was ranked as one of the Top 100 Cloud Computing Vendors for 2011. This continues the company's momentum in 2011 as the company's Cloud Backup software sets the standard for MSPs, VARs and solution providers seeking the industry's best cloud backup and recovery platform.

Cloud backup is the direction to go, whether seeking to cut costs, fool-proof backups, or ease the minds of company IT staff now and in the future. With so many cloud-focused companies out there, Asigra is known for being the company who has been in the business for 23 years with many firsts in the industry. To name a few: Asigra was the first to provide public cloud incremental forever, local and global deduplication with additional compression in 1993; the first to provide a public and private cloud-based service oriented architecture; the first to provide agentless continuous data protection, and several others.

CRN recognized Asigra for its agentless cloud backup and recovery platform which features the most comprehensive capabilities on the market, saying, "Public or private cloud? Asigra's got you covered. The company offers a Public Cloud Backup or Private Cloud Backup Solution to cover the backup bases in both types of environments, and it requires no agent to back up data on your servers."

"The cloud was made for storage. At its core, the cloud offers a nearly infinite space to store data, whether it's for backup, business continuity, disaster recovery or any of the other myriad reasons. And for solution providers, offering Storage-as-a-Service, or offering the ability to back up or store data via the Internet, is creating a host of new opportunities," noted the publication. "The ability to expand or scale back storage capacity on a whim is a powerful proposition, and solution providers and enterprises want to ensure they're trusting their data to the right cloud storage vendor."

Cloud backup is specialized backup technology for protecting data by transmitting a copy of the data over a proprietary or public network to a public or private backup vault. In a public cloud implementation, the vault is usually managed by a third-party service provider, who charges the end-user organization a fee based on capacity. Larger organizations that build a private backup cloud typically deploy a proprietary vault which serves as the central backup repository for distributed enterprise backup. In conjunction with industry-leading storage hardware and services delivered through partners, Asigra delivers powerful cloud backup capabilities that allow organizations to economize and modernize their backup processes for greater efficiency, control and data availability.

"With an architecture built for better business outcomes, our partners find Asigra Cloud Backup simpler to manage, easier to support, and less resource-intensive. In the end, that is what companies want and we deliver," said Tracy Staniland, Senior Director of Corporate Marketing, Asigra. "We are gratified that CRN recognizes the value we bring and have been perfecting since 1986."

ScaleMP is presenting at CloudEXPO 2019, held June 24-26 in Santa Clara, and we’d love to see you there. At the conference, we’ll demonstrate how ScaleMP is solving one of the most vexing challenges for cloud — memory cost and limit of scale — and how our innovative vSMP MemoryONE solution provides affordable larger server memory for the private and public cloud. Please visit us at Booth No. 519 to connect with our experts and learn more about vSMP MemoryONE and how it is already serving some of the world’s largest data centers. At CloudEXPO Silicon Valley, June 24-26, 2019, Digital Transformation (DX) is a major focus with expanded DevOpsSUMMIT and FinTechEXPO programs within the DXWorldEXPO agenda. Successful transformation requires a laser focus on being data-driven and on using all the tools available that enable transformation if they plan to survive over the long term. A total of 88% of Fortune 500 companies from a generation ago are now out of business. Only 12% still survive. Similar percentages are found throughout enterprises of all sizes.
When you're operating multiple services in production, building out forensics tools such as monitoring and observability becomes essential. Unfortunately, it is a real challenge balancing priorities between building new features and tools to help pinpoint root causes. Linkerd provides many of the tools you need to tame the chaos of operating microservices in a cloud native world. Because Linkerd is a transparent proxy that runs alongside your application, there are no code changes required. It even comes with Prometheus to store the metrics for you and pre-built Grafana dashboards to show exactly what is important for your services - success rate, latency, and throughput.

Modern software design has fundamentally changed how we manage applications, causing many to turn to containers as the new virtual machine for resource management. As container adoption grows beyond stateless applications to stateful workloads, the need for persistent storage is foundational - something customers routinely cite as a top pain point. In his session at @DevOpsSummit at 21st Cloud Expo, Bill Borsari, Head of Systems Engineering at Datera, explored how organizations can reap the benefits of the cloud without losing performance as containers become the new paradigm.
