REDWOOD CITY, Calif., March 28 /PRNewswire/ -- E2open, the leading provider of software and services for visibility and control over global distributed supply networks, today announced that Supply & Demand Chain Executive selected president and CEO Greg Clark as one if its "2006 Supply Chain Pros to Know" for his innovative use of software-as-a-service (SaaS) to enable large multi-national companies to gain visibility into their global supply networks. This in turn leads to reduced direct materials costs, increased supply assurance, reduced buffer inventories, and improved operational efficiencies. Clark was also selected for his groundbreaking work on solution architectures required for managing inter-company processes, such as supplier collaboration.

Inter-company processes are increasingly important in today's environment of multi-party, demand-driven supply chains and are particularly well-suited for software-as-a-service applications. Greg Clark is a pioneer in Internet security and supply chain integration technologies, which are two key requirements for the architecture required for visibility and control over distributed global supply networks.

The Supply & Demand Chain Executive Pros to Know selects individuals who exhibit deep domain knowledge and innovative thinking within the industry by making outstanding contributions to the field of supply and demand chain management. The individuals honored have worked to help supply chain management professionals by equipping them with the proper tools.

Clark is a leader in Internet security, integration and supply chain technologies. Before joining E2open, Clark was an IBM Distinguished Engineer and Vice President at IBM's Tivoli Systems, leading Tivoli's security architecture group and spearheading product architecture and strategy for Tivoli's net generation management and control offerings. Prior to joining IBM, Clark founded Dascom, Inc., a web security management technology company acquired by IBM in 1999. Dascom is recognized as a visionary web application security pioneer, and its products were licensed to industry leaders, such as IBM, HP, Netscape, Candle, and the Japanese security bellwether Secom Corporation. Prior to Dascom, Clark led the Asia Pacific development and porting team at AT&T UNIX System Laboratories (USL), a division of Bell Labs, responsible for the integration and support of UNIX technologies in the Pacific Rim. Clark spent several years as a key contributor and leader of the team that worked on the Portable Operating System Interface (POSIX) standard, UNIX ports to SMP hardware, and ports of network management technology to telecommunications transmission equipment.

"The focus of this year's Provider Pros to Know is leadership. These individuals have made outstanding contributions in their respective supply chain segments," said Andrew K. Reese, editor of Supply & Demand Chain Executive. "Their efforts in developing the tools and processes necessary for supply chain transformation, and in promoting new approaches to supply chain enablement, have earned them a place on this year's Provider Pros listing."

The fourth-annual listing of Pros to Know is featured in the February/March 2006 issue of Supply & Demand Chain Executive.

Why are APIs so important in clouds? Do APIs have to be open? How fast or slow will standardization in the cloud be? Why is ensuring high availability for the cloud service critical? In his session at the 10th International Cloud Expo, Mårten Mickos, CEO of Eucalyptus Systems, will answer these questions and address cloud standards, APIs and the critical question: Will we end up with one, two or more competing cloud standards? The proliferation of device connectivity is redefining the functionality requirements and capabilities of many embedded systems as more and more of these devices look to leverage the “Cloud.” While many commercial software and hardware component vendors have begun to realign their value propositions to satisfy growing demand, commercial-off-the-shelf products (COTS) alone cannot meet every OEM’s needs. As a result, the Embedded Cloud has injected a new level of uncertainty and a new competitive ...
