Cloud Computing: Labor Contract and Negotiations as a Service

BpaaS at Work

SaaS / BpaaS Adoption
This is the continuation of my series of articles on Industry SaaS. This term ‘Industry SaaS' can be used interchangeably with BpaaS (Business Process as a Service). However, the term ‘Industry SaaS' means Software as a Service which focuses on a specific industry, and the term BpaaS has yet to mature with a clear definition.

Labor Contract Negotiations Management & Tracking

  • Most large enterprises need to negotiate benefits to its employees with the labor contract unions
  • These negotiations happen between the management and the respective labor unions
  • These systems provide options for employees or union representatives to enter demands for a particular group of workers or for a plant or facility
  • These demands will be tracked whether they are accepted or require further negotiations or the demands cannot be met
  • Each demand can also be tied to a responsible person within the enterprise for follow up
  • The system should maintain transparency about the status of demands and replies and comments from various stake holders
  • There will be an array of reports for both the management and employees to track the details of interest
  • The system should have good usability features as it is likely to be used by a disparate set of people
  • System should have good security and role-based authorization, as not everyone cannot create demands, and approval and follow-up require specific authority within the enterprise hierarchy
  • As evident this system is a sensitive system, as the accuracy of information is vital for the satisfaction of the employees which will go towards the productivity of the enterprises.

Fitment to Cloud Delivery Model
The following points will emphasize that this kind of Labor Negotiations Management and Tracking system is suitable for a BpaaS (Business Process as a Service) model and a cloud platform is ideal for efficient utilization.

  • Negotiations occur only at specific intervals like each year and even in some cases every two or four years and hence this application is subject to variable load patterns, which means the application usage will be very high during those times and other times there will be very minimal or no usage of the application. This is a natural tenant of the cloud platform and this application can makes best use of it
  • The application has multiple stakeholders, management team members, Human Resource officials, employees and third-party union members and sometimes even government agencies, hence a common authentication model can be arrived at the cloud than an on-premise model
  • This application has a lot of workflow needs, so that demands are reviewed and promoted for senior management and after comments, the union members can review the same. These kinds of workflow-based applications are best suited to a cloud deployment model.
  • This process can be standardized to a great extent, but for minimal customizations to be served as a SaaS offering.

As mentioned in the earlier parts of the series, the below order does not signify any rating or order of vendors, enterprises are requested to utilize their own evaluation process.

It's always difficult to cover every other offering under Labor Contract Negotiations management as a service in one article, also as mentioned the aim is not to rank the providers, if any other important offering under this service is missed out, please write to me for covering them in the coming articles.

Enterprises have taken advantage of IoT to achieve important revenue and cost advantages. What is less apparent is how incumbent enterprises operating at scale have, following success with IoT, built analytic, operations management and software development capabilities - ranging from autonomous vehicles to manageable robotics installations. They have embraced these capabilities as if they were Silicon Valley startups.

The standardization of container runtimes and images has sparked the creation of an almost overwhelming number of new open source projects that build on and otherwise work with these specifications. Of course, there's Kubernetes, which orchestrates and manages collections of containers. It was one of the first and best-known examples of projects that make containers truly useful for production use. However, more recently, the container ecosystem has truly exploded. A service mesh like Istio addr...
Predicting the future has never been more challenging - not because of the lack of data but because of the flood of ungoverned and risk laden information. Microsoft states that 2.5 exabytes of data are created every day. Expectations and reliance on data are being pushed to the limits, as demands around hybrid options continue to grow.
Poor data quality and analytics drive down business value. In fact, Gartner estimated that the average financial impact of poor data quality on organizations is $9.7 million per year. But bad data is much more than a cost center. By eroding trust in information, analytics and the business decisions based on these, it is a serious impediment to digital transformation.
Business professionals no longer wonder if they'll migrate to the cloud; it's now a matter of when. The cloud environment has proved to be a major force in transitioning to an agile business model that enables quick decisions and fast implementation that solidify customer relationships. And when the cloud is combined with the power of cognitive computing, it drives innovation and transformation that achieves astounding competitive advantage.
