Cloud Computing Can't Fix These Problems

There are still inevitable problems with cloud computing that your business needs to be aware of

Even in its nascent stages, cloud computing is rapidly becoming the talk of the technology industry. A full-fledged transition to the cloud computing platform will truly revolutionize the landscape of day-to-day business processes. Many perceive it to be an ideal game-changer; however, it still cannot fix a multitude of inevitable problems:

    1. The Higher Security Illusion: Cloud computing is still in its infantile stages. And its incapability of fail-safe protection of data is causing many businesses to fear a breach in security. Perhaps this fear is justified, given that very few cloud computing security mechanisms have actually employed the reliable AES 256/512 bit key encryption systems for safeguarding data. If the World Bank and the FBI database can be hacked, then nothing is fully secure.

    2. Inherent Website Design Flaws: Adapting to the cloud cannot fix poorly designed elements in websites and systems. Cloud computing can only improve business processes, but it cannot repair inherent flaws in website design. Increased usage of cloud resources to improve poor performance of websites and applications will result in inflated costs by the cloud provider. For truly optimal usage of the cloud resources, the root design flaws in the website itself must be weeded out first.

    3. A cloud computing platform, whether public or private, is still incapable of effective data organization. Transitioning to the cloud allows for tremendously improved data storage; however, identifying the relevance of excess data, and converting it for compatibility with your current system, is still a human task. A cloud platform’s sole purpose is to collect data. As it is not an artificially intelligent software, contextualizing and interpretation will still require human effort.

    4. Reducing Workforce: Cloud computing is only a technical system designed to meet the efficiency needs of data collection and sharing. Human effort is still the paramount necessity for interpreting the data and for running core business operations.

While cloud computing security and data organization issues hinder the success of the cloud for now, it will continue to provide high efficiency in data collection and should not be overlooked by companies in the near future.
