Kürzlich hat der bekannte CAD-Experte Ralph Grabowski die CAD-Lösung ZWCAD+ einem ausführlichen Test unterzogen und deren Kompatibilität mit AutoCAD untersucht, vor allem unter den Aspekten Benutzeroberfläche, Befehlsumfang, Zeichnungsfunktionen und Anpassbarkeit.
Ralph Grabowski ist leitender Redakteur bei upFront.eZine Publishing, Ltd sowie Autor von mehr als 140 Fachbüchern und mehreren hundert Artikeln, die in CAD-Fachpublikationen veröffentlicht wurden.
ZWCAD+ wurde Anfang dieses Jahres vorgestellt und hat mit seiner neuen Code-Basis für eine Überraschung gesorgt. Bisherige ZWCAD-Anwender, neue Anwender und Branchenkenner haben die neue Generation ZWCAD+ getestet und kamen zu erstaunlichen Ergebnissen. Es folgt der Testbericht von Ralph Grabowski über ZWCAD+.
Im Hinblick auf die Kompatibilität der Benutzeroberfläche schreibt Grabowski: „Mein bevorzugtes Funktionsmerkmal ist die Dokumenten-Kopfzeile, die mir einen schnellen Wechsel zwischen mehreren geöffneten Zeichnungen ermöglicht. Durch einen Rechtsklick auf die Registerkarte wird ein Menü mit häufig benutzten, dateibezogenen Befehlen angezeigt. (Bei AutoCAD ist der Wechsel zwischen geöffneten Zeichnungen dagegen umständlich über Toolbar-Schaltflächen und das Anwendungsmenü gelöst.) Die Benutzeroberfläche von ZWCAD+ ist AutoCAD klar überlegen und bietet innovative Funktionen wie SmartMouse: Mit gedrückter rechter Maustaste wird der Cursor wie beim Schreiben eines Buchstabens bewegt (oder in bestimmte Richtungen), um den entsprechenden Befehl zu aktivieren. Wenn ich beispielsweise mit dem Mauscursor den Buchstaben E auf den Bildschirm „zeichne“, wird die Löschen-Funktion gestartet, und wenn ich den Mauscursor nach links ziehe, aktiviere ich “Kopieren”. Und das Beste dabei ist: Die SmartMouse-Funktion erlaubt eine vollständige Anpassung aller Mausbewegungen durch den Anwender.“
In einem anderen Abschnitt des Testberichts wird die Kompatibilität von ZWCAD+ mit AutoCAD-Zeichnungsdateien beschrieben. Hier bringt der Autor seine Erfahrungen als Berater und Tester einer Vielzahl von CAD-Programmen ein. Grabowski öffnete eine Reihe von komplexen Zeichnungsdateien in ZWCAD+ und resümiert: Die Ergebnisse waren hervorragend. Alle Zeichnungen wurden in ZWCAD+ korrekt dargestellt. Viele Anwender interessieren sich für die Frage, was geschieht, wenn eine Zeichnung importiert wird, die von ZWCAD+ nicht unterstützte Objekte enthält. Grabowski untersuchte Constraints und Point Clouds und kam zu folgendem Schluss: „ZWCAD+ stellt diese Elemente fehlerfrei dar und behandelt sie als Proxy Entity. Bei Proxy Entities sind einfache Bearbeitungsaufgaben wie Bewegen oder Löschen, Änderungen der Farbe oder der Ebene und Ausdrucken möglich, nicht jedoch die Anwendung Point-Cloud-spezifischer Befehle.“
Im Fazit des Testberichts unterstreicht Ralph Grabowski die Kosteneffizienz von ZWCAD+. „Während AutoCAD mit 4.000 US-Dollar zu Buche schlägt, kostet ZWCAD+ Pro je nach Land des Käufers etwa 1.000 US-Dollar. Der Preis von ZWCAD+ beträgt ein Viertel des AutoCAD-Preises – das heißt, Ihr Büro kann CAD auf viermal mehr Arbeitsstationen installieren und dadurch erhebliche Kosteneinsparungen erzielen.“
