Asia eLearning Market to Reach $11.5 billion by 2016

New Ambient Insight Report Identifies Strong Growth in Asia

SEATTLE, Nov. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The Asia region has the highest growth rate for eLearning on the planet at 17.3% and the growth in some countries is nothing short of remarkable.  Revenues reached $5.2 billion in 2011 and will more than double to $11.5 billion by 2016, according to a new Ambient Insight report called, "The Asia Market for Self-paced eLearning Products and Services: 2011-2016 Forecast and Analysis."

Forecasts for sixteen countries are included in this regional report: Australia, Bangladesh, China (including Hong Kong and Macao), India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. The two countries with the highest growth rates in the world are Vietnam and Malaysia, at an amazing 44.3% and 39.4%, respectively. Asia is now a vibrant and rapidly evolving market.

"The vast majority of revenues will be generated from the sales of packaged content. The demand for content is rising so rapidly in many countries in the region that suppliers are scrambling to meet the demand," reports Sam S. Adkins, Chief Research Officer. "There is a surge in the number of reseller agreements, mergers, and acquisitions."

The free Abstract is available at: http://www.ambientinsight.com/Reports/eLearning.aspx

There are two sections in this report: a demand-side analysis and a supply-side analysis. Additionally, there is an index of suppliers competing in the region. The demand-side analysis provides suppliers with insight into the catalysts driving buying behavior in Asia.

"There are three major catalysts in Asia. Two catalysts — the massive content digitization efforts across the school systems in every country in the region and the large-scale deployments of tablets in the academic segments — essentially create a new delivery platform for suppliers," comments CEO Tyson Greer. "The third catalyst is the explosive growth of online higher education enrollments. Combined, these catalysts have created a massive demand for packaged content."

There are also secondary catalysts driving the adoption of online learning in the region including the healthy demand for eLearning in the corporate segments in many countries and the strong demand for digital English language learning products in both the academic and consumer segments across the region.

The supply-side section provides revenue forecasts for five types of Self-paced eLearning products and services including: packaged content, custom content development services, cloud-based authoring tools and learning platform services, installed authoring tools, and installed learning platforms.

"Authoring tools will generate the second-highest revenues after packaged content during the forecast period," adds Adkins. "The growth rate for cloud-based authoring tools and learning platforms in Asia is a robust 22.7%, the highest growth rate of all products. Authoring tools (both installed and hosted) are in high demand as commercial suppliers and internal organizations rush to meet the demand for content."

Over 250 suppliers in specific countries in Asia are cited in this report. This will help international suppliers identify local partners, distributors, resellers, and potential merger and acquisition (M&A) targets. Device makers and telecoms are quite active in the Asia eLearning market and offer significant partnering opportunities for international suppliers. This report identifies over two dozen of these telecoms.
