Canoga Perkins Introduces the Cloudbuster™ NID, the World's First 100 Gigabit Ethernet Network Interface Device

- Telecom Device Pioneer to Unveil New Technology at Ethernet Expo 2012, Booth #306 -

NEW YORK and CHATSWORTH, Calif., Nov. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Canoga Perkins Corp., a leading supplier of managed Ethernet devices to communications service providers worldwide, today announced the introduction of the Cloudbuster™ Network Interface Device (NID), the industry's first 100 Gigabit Ethernet NID. This 100 GE NID is designed to handle explosive traffic growth in data centers, mobile backhaul, and other business and wholesale service applications. The Cloudbuster™  NID is expected to greatly facilitate the anticipated deployment of 100Gig services by the telecom industry. Canoga Perkins Corp. will unveil the Cloudbuster™  NID at Ethernet Expo 2012, November 6-8 at booth #306.

Industry feedback indicates that service providers worldwide are interested in 100GE technology, but need to see cost competitive solutions before wide scale adoption can occur. With the Cloudbuster™ NID, Canoga Perkins has responded to this need by providing an affordable 100GE on-ramp.

"Canoga Perkins pioneered the development of 10GE access devices for telecom networks in 2003 and is once again pushing the envelope with its new 100GE NID," said Stan Hubbard, a senior analyst at Heavy Reading and one of the industry's leading analyst experts on carrier Ethernet trends and technologies. "While multiple vendors have rolled out routers and switches that support 100GE interfaces, Canoga Perkins is first to market with a 100GE platform for the access market."

The Cloudbuster™ NID supports standard CXP and CFP 100 Gigabit optic modules on the User and Network ports and offers full 100 GBS Wireline Speeds with all EVC and OAM functions active. This 100GE NID will serve as a demarcation device at data centers, as an aggregator for cellular backhaul, and media streaming centers.  It will also service cloud computing services giving more control and diagnostic tools than traditional wavelength services.

The Cloudbuster™ NID uses energy efficient, state-of-the-art components. It is rack mountable and dual redundant with hot swappable power supplies and fans. The device shares the same extensive feature sets as Canoga's 9145e 1Gig and 10Gig family of devices, including Canoga's unique Protected Link Performance Measuring (PLPM) that enables users to deploy separate NIDs on protected network links, eliminating 'single point of failure.'

Pre-production units of the Cloudbuster™ NID will be available in early December 2012 with commercial units available beginning in the first quarter of 2013.

One of the cloud’s biggest draws is the capability to virtualize computing resources, allowing it to be consumed with the click of a mouse. But behind that simple click is an enormous infrastructure challenge that has recently been cited as a major cause for slower enterprise adoption. Enterprises can better prepare for this shift and take full advantage of future computing benefits. Between architecture design and migration planning, the road can be long, so what do you do with your talent? I...
