How to Use CloudBerry Backup with HP Cloud

This post explains how to sign up for HP Cloud, create a container, find credentials and use them to connect CloudBerry Backup with your HP Cloud account.

Create an HP Cloud Account

All new customers get a $20 credit per month for the first three billing months, so you can try HP Cloud storage service for free. To create an account, go to https://www.hpcloud.com/ and find "Get Started Now" button.
Fill in the registration form and click "Create Account". You will receive an email with a link to verify your account. Follow the link and you will get to HP Cloud console.

To login to the console enter username and password that you have specified in the registration form.

Now you need to finish the registration process. For that just click "Activate Now" under any service in the console and you will be asked for your credit card info. Note: credit card is required for account validation, but you will not be charged during the following 3 months of free trial.
To activate Object Storage service select "Activate Now". Now you can create a container and get credentials to connect HP Cloud account with CloudBerry Backup.

Download CloudBerry Backup

Download Desktop edition or Server edition of CloudBerry Backup. Install and launch the program.

Configure CloudBerry Backup for HP Cloud

Start the program and select "Backup Wizard". On the second step click <Create a new account> option in the "HP Cloud" drop down menu and enter account credentials.
1. Display name is just a name, so choose any.
2. Username should consist of 2 parts: Tenant ID and Login with colon in between - YourTenantID:YoutLogin. To find you Tenant ID login to your HP Cloud console and follow the link https://console.hpcloud.com/account/api_keys. Find "Tenant" box in the "Service Endpoints" section.

Login is the same you use in the HP Cloud console. It also displayed in "Account" menu in the top right corner of the console home page.

In my case username I should enter in CloudBerry Backup is 61804764806728:negrash, where 61804764806728 is my Tenant ID and negrash is my Login.
3. Api key is for your password. Enter the password you use to login to the console.

4. Authentication service is for that exact URL: https://region-a.geo-1.identity.hpcloudsvc.com:35357/v1.0/. Copy it to the CloudBerry Backup

If you entered everything correctly, you will be able to see containers you've created earlier and create new ones. Complete the rest of the Backup Wizard steps to customize your backup plan and enjoy CloudBerry Backup with HP Cloud.

Configure CloudBerry Backup for HP Cloud with Keystone Authentication

You can also configure CloudBerry Backup to use Keystone Authentication.

1. Display name is just a name, so choose any.
2. Username in this case would be the same you use to login to HP Cloud console.
3. Api key is also the same you use for the console.
4. Authentication service is for the Identitty URL. To find it login to HP Cloud console and go to "API Keys" section in your HP Cloud console. Under the "Identity" you'll find URLs. Copy the URL and paste it to CloudBerry Backup.

IMPORTANT! To make Authentication work, you need to manually add "tokens" to the end of the URL, so that it looks like https://region-a.geo-1.identity.hpcloudsvc.com:35357/v2.0/tokens

5. Keystone Authentication. To activate Keystone Authentication check the box "Use Keystone authentication" and enter "Tenant name" that can also be found in "API Keys" section in your HP Cloud console.

If you entered everything correctly, you will be able to see containers you've created earlier and create a new one. Proceed to the next Backup Wizard steps to customize your backup plan and enjoy CloudBerry Backup with HP Cloud.
