Asigra Backs Up All Data End-to-End Even in the Cloud

It claims the widgetry is the first and only backup solution to back up all enterprise data into a single repository

Asigra, the Toronto-based cloud Backup, Recovery and Restore (BURR) software provider, just unveiled Asigra Cloud Backup v12, a secure, single end-to-end data protection software suite that protects data across physical, virtualized and cloud operating environments.

It claims the widgetry is the first and only backup solution to back up all enterprise data into a single repository - that means physical and virtual environments, everything from servers and storage to desktops and on to endpoint devices - laptops, tablets and smartphones as well as databases, enterprise apps and cloud-based applications.

That means that users can rip out their myriad point solutions, simplifying their environments and their recovery processes.

Asigra says it breaks new ground with SaaS and PaaS cloud app support, industry-leading mobile endpoint support - Android, iOS, Linux, Mac OS, Windows - and anytime/anywhere data recovery across the enterprise.

It can recover call logs, settings, applications, SD card data, calendar, alarm clock settings, music, SMS/MMS communications, bookmarks, photos and videos.

The company says it's the first enterprise cloud backup and recovery software platform to support cloud apps and platforms and virtual disaster recovery for VMware environments without any additional licensing. It's also gussied up its snapshot capabilities.

The widgetry can now protect a complete Salesforce database, including accounts, contacts, leads, campaigns and custom objects. Users can recover just the data or both the schema and data. There's AES 256 encryption in-flight and at rest.

Asigra's got capabilities users can't get from Salesforce like controlling and scheduling backups, encryption and rolling back to a previous point in time.

It can protect Big Data using storage snapshots that comes with a complimentary snapshot manager interface to catalog, configure and manage snapshots.

It protects against virtual machine failures with backup copies of VMs and instant activation of the backup copies. Remote site protection is provided with VM backups to one or more offsite data centers with continued business operations as data is recovered to the primary site.

Asigra has been in the backup and recovery business for 26 years and has 550,000 installations worldwide. It's 100% channel-focused and plays to service providers. It figures it's now given them a bigger addressable market since the widgetry can recover all data regardless of where it lives. It's also talking comprehensive marketing support, up-sell/cross-sell opportunities, zero channel conflict, lower TCO and industry-leading margins.

The hardware- and software-agnostic solution can be deployed as a public, private and hybrid cloud either as enterprise software or leveraged as a backup service through SPs.

One of the cloud’s biggest draws is the capability to virtualize computing resources, allowing it to be consumed with the click of a mouse. But behind that simple click is an enormous infrastructure challenge that has recently been cited as a major cause for slower enterprise adoption. Enterprises can better prepare for this shift and take full advantage of future computing benefits. Between architecture design and migration planning, the road can be long, so what do you do with your talent? I...
