Introducing InfraScale™

Cloud computing pioneers to power truly secure cloud storage, collaboration, and cloud-brokerage solutions.

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, InfraScale™ announced that it has been formed as the new parent entity of FileLocker™, SOS Online Backup™, and Enterprise Protect™. The creation of InfraScale institutionalizes a truly secure and massively scalable cloud infrastructure currently powering over one thousand online backup and cloud storage brands.

InfraScale has been transformed from a single product, SOS Online Backup, into a cloud software platform capable of storing and protecting millions of individual company data storage accounts, collaboration customers, and sharing over a billion files.

While InfraScale's introduction to the world was as the support system of SOS Online Backup, its capabilities have grown immensely over the course of six years. It now powers a premium cloud collaboration solution (FileLocker), a data backup and recovery service capable of complete failover (Enterprise Protect), and its flag-ship product SOS Online Backup.  In addition to these in-house brands, more than 1,000 other cloud service brands run from the InfraScale platform.

Ken Shaw, CEO and Founder of InfraScale has guided the solution from its infancy, to its current platform, which powers backup and collaboration for a variety of sectors, including legal, government, hospitality, and finance. "I'm very excited to be able to take SOS Online Backup through this transformation. The cloud computing industry is experiencing incredible growth – as are we.  But we need a brand that can scale and speak to all of the things that our software can do, and not pigeon-hole us into one particular use-case.  We have cloud backup solutions, but also collaboration solutions, mobile solutions, archiving solution and end-point protection solutions.  InfraScale will be known for all of that – and not just online backup."

Shaw points out that InfraScale's core competency does not stop at operating and building a public cloud computing and storage grid. "The storage and cloud computing industry is shifting to one that requires the use of a variety of cloud platforms. This is why we're taking all of our solutions to a 'your cloud, our cloud, any cloud' deployment model. We're a cloud software company, and at the end of the day we don't care whose metal you use.  If you use one of our applications, you'll be able to deploy it nearly anywhere you'd like."

One of the most compelling promises of the cloud is that you can pull out a credit card and be working in minutes. No purchase orders to fill out, no equipment to wait for on the loading dock. Just instant access to the resources you need, when you need them. But accessibility comes at a price, and an unintentional consequence may be that you create yet another orphaned identity silo. Enterprise IT has spent years consolidating its mishmash of directories, only to discover that cloud now threate...

You're getting pitched every day from your legacy enterprise software and hardware vendors about "cloud." They're doing an amazing job of convincing your CIO and CTO about what cloud is and how you should use it. The reality is they're defending their shrinking market share and keeping you on the legacy treadmill for as long as they can by selling you solutions that aren't "cloud." In her session at the 12th International Cloud Expo, Niki Acosta, Cloud Evangelista for Rackspace, will talk thro...
