November 20, 2012 - Viby J, Denmark - Debriefing Software has released an upgraded version of its cloud-based Storage Resource Management (SRM) tool, Wizards Storage Portal, that is 100% compatible with IBM's recent launch for small and midsize businesses, Storwize V3700. According to IBM, midsize and small businesses alone are now responsible for nearly 65% of the global GDP. The launch of Storwize V3700—based on Storwize V7000, IBM's successful storage management solution for large enterprises—will make IBM storage services available to an enormous number of companies globally, as well as providing IBM resellers with numerous opportunities to offer storage management services to a new range of customers.

Wizards Storage Portal (WSP) provides real-time monitoring, analytics, and automated reports and alerts to allow IT departments and their IBM reseller partners more efficient management of their business-critical storage. WSP is compatible with the leading storage management technologies including IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM), Storwize and SAN Volume Controller (SVC).

For small and midsize businesses, where IT budgets are all too often stretched just to keep the lights on, Wizards Storage Portal frees up valuable resources for more strategic, business-focused projects. Using WSP, IT departments can save up to 70% of the time they spend managing IBM storage and backup, while eliminating the need for additional hardware or software.

Peter Wharton, Chief Marketing Officer of Debriefing Software, said, "It's not just the larger enterprises that want to maximize their storage investments: SRM analytics, monitoring and surveillance are equally important to small-to-medium businesses. Like IBM, we see a huge opportunity in the SMB market."

For IBM reseller partners, Wizards Storage Portal enables you to develop turnkey managed services portfolios in order to increase the number of annuity-based customer relationships immediately.

Paul Stroem, Global Sales Director, Debriefing Software, said, "Wizards Storage Portal provides IBM reseller partners with a unique range Storage Resource Management tools and features that can help them build a platform to offer managed services. By using WSP to work more closely with their customers, IBM resellers can extend existing customer relationships while bringing in new customers, creating recurring revenue streams that contribute to higher margins."

The upgraded version of Wizards Storage Portal comes complete with all the features already available in WSP for Storwize V7000, but with a few more features to help businesses save even more time and money.

Jesper Matthiesen, Chief Technology Officer of Debriefing Software, said, "Wizards Storage Portal helps businesses, whatever their size, expand the lifespan of their storage infrastructures. It's not just about data growth. You can also see visual representations of response times, read/write ratios, input/output operations, transferred storage and much more. With this information in hand, it's easy to determine where performance issues have their origins in the storage system."

Additional New Features in Wizards Storage Portal 3.15 and 3.16

Wizards for Tivoli Storage Manager:

  • New TSM configuration overview

  • Enhanced tape reporting

  • Tape Library and Drive Unavailable Wizards are now highly customizable to define how many drives need to be available online and then automate active alerts when thresholds are breached

  • Node detail page and graphs performance optimized

Wizards for Storwize & SVC:

  • Support for IBM Storwize V3700

  • Implementation of high-watermarks for storage pool I/Os, throughput and latency to monitor and record highest performances

  • Implementation of ability to enter estimated throughput & I/Os for storage pools manually and then compare to real performance
