Comstor Announces Availability of New Cisco UCS® E-Series Bundles

Customers Simplify Branch Office Infrastructures with Converged Networking, Computing, and Virtualization-Ready Platform

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. and CIRENCESTER, England, Nov. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Westcon Group, a value-added distributor of category-leading unified communications, network infrastructure, data center, and security solutions with a global network of specialty resellers, today announced the company's Comstor business unit has been authorized to distribute new Cisco UCS® E-Series Server bundles.  Servers in the "Branch-in-a-Box with VMware View" offering are specifically designed to support branch office workers and provide a converged networking, computing and virtualization-ready platform.

E-Series products are next-generation power-optimized general-purpose x86 64-bit blade servers designed for deployment in Cisco Integrated Services Routers.  These price-to-performance optimized blade servers balance simplicity, performance, reliability, and power efficiency -- and are well-suited for applications and infrastructure services typically deployed in small and branch offices.

"With the rapid innovation taking place in virtualization, compute and networking technologies, small and medium businesses are increasingly exploring virtual desktop infrastructures.  But to be effective, the technology must be simple and reliable – with the ability to incorporate other business needs like office communications, PCI compliance, and business continuity," said Ed Baker, Director of Data Centre and Virtualisation Channel, Cisco EMEAR.

The technology provides superior user experience by running VMware View hosted on VMware ESXi running within Cisco branch routers.  Constructed to provide a cost-efficient distributed virtual desktop infrastructure model, the package helps address wide area network performance concerns and deliver the best virtual desktop experience.

Baker continued:  "Our new UCS E-Series bundle does all that and more – making use of a cost-effective distributed VDI model that enables branch offices to fully experience the power of UCS.  As an expert in Cisco data center technology, Comstor is well positioned to help partners realize new revenue opportunities leveraging UCS."

For two decades, Comstor has remained dedicated to helping reseller partners globally accelerate their businesses utilizing Cisco and related partner solutions across a range of unified communications, networking, collaboration, and datacenter technologies.  From global logistics and flexible customized financing – to pre-sales, technical and engineering assistance – Comstor empowers partners to succeed and generate revenue leveraging Cisco data center technology.

"Many companies want to leverage the cost efficiencies of virtual data infrastructures, but are wary of running it across the wide area network.  The fact is, a single failure could be devastating to the business at a remote location," said Andreas Dohmen, Executive Vice President, EMEA, Comstor.  "Cisco and VMware are solving this problem with the new E-Series bundle.  Backed by almost 20 years of experience working with Cisco technology, Comstor is very well positioned to effectively bring this solution to market via our broad-range of specialty resellers across the globe."
