Logicalis Extends Operations In Wales

CREATES HIGHLY SKILLED JOBS, LAUNCHES NEW APPRENTICESHIP SCHEME

Cardiff, UK, 28 November 2012 - Logicalis UK, the international IT solutions, managed services and cloud provider, today announced that it has extended its operations in Wales by scaling up activities at Nantgarw near Cardiff. Enhanced services from the site will support over 100 Welsh customers, creating 6 new highly skilled ICT jobs and 3 apprenticeship placements as a consequence. This increment consolidates a 50% increase in the workforce in Wales over the last 3 years.

Logicalis began operations in Nantgarw in 2007, and in June 2009 opened the Logicalis National Centre of Excellence for Public Sector Services. This site supports the Welsh Government's innovative PSBA (Public Sector Broadband Aggregation) Network, a high-speed national information and communications platform which will enable greater efficiency and collaboration across over 100 Welsh public sector organisations, helping to deliver improved public services for the people of Wales.

Tom Kelly, Managing Director of Logicalis UK, explains; "Our decision to invest in Wales has proved a great success since we first opened our doors in 2007. Operating in a 'knowledge-based' industry we have a continual need for a highly skilled workforce and Wales has a workforce with the confidence, attitude of mind, skills and professionalism that we need. In creating these latest jobs we hope to make a further contribution to the overall Welsh economy. I hope to continue expanding our Welsh based operations in the near future."

He continues, "It's fantastic to see our business in the region go from strength to strength, delivering continued job security as well as creating new skills-based employment and training opportunities for the people of Wales. Having designed, built and managed what is in effect the UK's first Public Sector Network (PSN) here in Wales; it is natural that we develop a skilled Welsh team to spearhead our public sector services offering."

Expansion of operations in Nantgarw is the latest step in Logicalis' long-term business objectives in Wales. Building on PSBA operations it serves as the regional hub for Logicalis' portfolio of ICT services and solutions for Welsh based business and public sector organisations, including data centre solutions, managed services, communications and collaboration, and cloud based ICT solutions.
