U.S. Army Materiel Command Expands Its Enterprise Implementation of the AtHoc Emergency Mass Notification System

Hosted in DISA Data Center, the AMC System Marks the First Enterprise Army Implementation Supporting Multiple Installations From a Centralized Location

SAN MATEO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/06/12 -- AtHoc, Inc. (www.athoc.com), the pioneer and leader in network-centric emergency mass notification systems (EMNS), today announced that the U.S. Army Materiel Command (AMC) has expanded its enterprise implementation of AtHoc IWSAlerts™ to support multiple additional installations and groups from the same Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) data center. The AMC system becomes the first Army implementation to deploy enterprise EMNS utilizing a centralized secure private cloud architecture to easily add remote locations and organizations, including: HQ Army Contracting Command, HQ Army Security Assistance Command, Pine Bluff Arsenal, Corpus Christi Army Depot, Blue Grass Army Depot, Camp Stanley Storage Activity, with the capability to add others in the future.

The AMC deployment via a highly cost efficient centralized architecture assures enterprise wide consistency and reduces ongoing sustainment costs. Such deployments deliver significant benefits:

  • Centralized system located at DISA datacenter with full failover capabilities
  • 100% interoperability between all installations
  • Ability to send command-wide, installation-wide, or targeted notifications to all devices
  • Consistent training and procedures across all supported locations
  • Speedy deployment time, achieving full operational status within days for new installations
  • Reduced total cost through shared servers and communications infrastructure
  • Real-time response tracking and reporting for personnel accountability

The new enterprise expansion provides the additional AMC installations a rapid, predictable, and unified platform for notifying and alerting personnel across a wide variety of technologies and end-user devices, including desktop alerts, e-mail, telephony (landline and mobile) and SMS/text messaging. This enables the organization's emergency directors to send alerts to the entire user population with full enterprise visibility, while providing each remote site its own "private" alerting system.

"AtHoc IWSAlerts provides AMC Full Operational Capability (FOC) of a mass notification system (MNS) that satisfies the Secretary of Defense (SECDEF) requirements, well before the required 2014 deadline," said (Ret) Army Colonel David Brown, Director of Army Operations for AtHoc. "AtHoc IWSAlerts is the only EMNS solution on the DISA Approved Product List (DISA APL) with the Army's enterprise-wide Certificate of Networthiness (CoN) and Authority to Operate (AtO) -- reducing overall infrastructure and maintenance costs, while significantly expediting deployment time."

AtHoc's unified mass notification system will enable authorized emergency operators to initiate alerts from any standard Web browser and deliver targeted alerts in minutes to all AMC personnel, individual supported locations or units. AtHoc's powerful personnel accountability capabilities gives AMC and the Army the ability to gain a clear picture of affected personnel by tracking receipt of alerts and feedback on the individual's status (e.g. injured, ok, off site etc.) and providing comprehensive organizational reports of the status of personnel by unit, sub-unit and individuals.

U.S. Army Materiel Command (AMC), located at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, is the Army's main provider of technology, acquisition support, materiel development, logistics power projection, and sustainment. AMC operates the research, development and engineering centers depots; arsenals; ammunition plants; and other facilities, and maintains the Army's prepositioned stocks, both on land and afloat.

AtHoc is the industry's leading provider of net-centric emergency mass notification systems to the U.S. military and federal government, deployed at thousands of garrisons, installations, and bases around the world, and protecting well over 2 million federal and U.S. armed forces personnel.
