FINCAD Voted Most Innovative Specialist Vendor in Risk.net's 2012 Technology Rankings

VANCOUVER, British Columbia and DUBLIN, Dec. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- FINCAD, the leading provider of OTC derivatives and risk solutions, is pleased to announce that it has been voted the most innovative specialist vendor in Risk.net's 2012 Annual Technology Rankings for its F3 product. This is the second award for innovation that F3 has won since it was launched.

The Risk Technology Rankings are measured from a poll of hundreds of finance professionals from banks, hedge and pension funds, insurance companies and corporate treasuries around the world. Votes are based on the functionality, usability, performance, return on investment and reliability of various software products and vendors. F3's patent-pending Universal Risk TechnologyTM combined with its generic architecture enables the pricing of virtually any financial instrument, allowing clients to easily adapt to market changes. With the current emphasis on regulatory compliance, this was a key consideration in the Risk Technology Ranking's survey.

"In an uncertain regulatory environment like today, constant innovation and forward-thinking are imperative in maintaining competitiveness. F3's inherent flexibility and future-proofing capability help our clients comply with and prepare for changing regulations," says Bob Park, President and CEO, FINCAD. "Speaking on behalf of everyone at FINCAD, we are very excited to be recognized by industry professionals. I know the hard work that has gone into making F3 an award-winning product, and I'm very pleased to see that we've achieved our goal of being an innovator in the analytics space."

Full results of the survey appeared in the December issue of Risk.

The explosion of new web/cloud/IoT-based applications and the data they generate are transforming our world right before our eyes. In this rush to adopt these new technologies, organizations are often ignoring fundamental questions concerning who owns the data and failing to ask for permission to conduct invasive surveillance of their customers. Organizations that are not transparent about how their systems gather data telemetry without offering shared data ownership risk product rejection, regulatory scrutiny and increasing consumer lack of trust in technology in general.

When building large, cloud-based applications that operate at a high scale, it's important to maintain a high availability and resilience to failures. In order to do that, you must be tolerant of failures, even in light of failures in other areas of your application. "Fly two mistakes high" is an old adage in the radio control airplane hobby. It means, fly high enough so that if you make a mistake, you can continue flying with room to still make mistakes. In his session at 18th Cloud Expo, Lee Atchison, Principal Cloud Architect and Advocate at New Relic, discussed how this same philosophy can be applied to highly scaled applications, and can dramatically increase your resilience to failure.
Machine learning has taken residence at our cities' cores and now we can finally have "smart cities." Cities are a collection of buildings made to provide the structure and safety necessary for people to function, create and survive. Buildings are a pool of ever-changing performance data from large automated systems such as heating and cooling to the people that live and work within them. Through machine learning, buildings can optimize performance, reduce costs, and improve occupant comfort by sharing information within the building and with outside city infrastructure via real time shared cloud capabilities.
"Our strategy is to focus on the hyperscale providers - AWS, Azure, and Google. Over the last year we saw that a lot of developers need to learn how to do their job in the cloud and we see this DevOps movement that we are catering to with our content," stated Alessandro Fasan, Head of Global Sales at Cloud Academy, in this SYS-CON.tv interview at 20th Cloud Expo, held June 6-8, 2017, at the Javits Center in New York City, NY.
