Die Web-Gewohnheiten der Mobil-Nutzer ändern sich und Websites werden über Geräte abgerufen, die nur selten von den Mobil-Strategien der Unternehmen abgedeckt sind. Auf 7 der 8 untersuchten regionalen Märkte wird mehr Datenverkehr über Feature-Phones verzeichnet als über Tablets. Dies ist für die Mobil-Strategien der Unternehmen von entscheidender Bedeutung. Diese stützen sich oft auf ihre PC-Websites für Tablets, was an sich auch eine begrenzte Strategie darstellt, da Touch- und GPS-Funktionalitäten fehlen.
Die rückläufige Nutzung von Blackberry-Geräten hat einige Firmen dazu veranlasst, die Web-Erfahrung für diese Smartphones nicht mehr weiter zu optimieren. Der Metrics Report zeigt jedoch, dass trotz des rückläufigen Trends immer noch sechs Blackberry-Geräte unter den Top 25-Geräten hinsichtlich globalen Datenverkehrs stehen, wobei sich das Blackberry 8520 auf Platz fünf befindet.
"Wenn die Unternehmen diese sich wandelnden Trends der Art und Weise, wie die Menschen das Web zugreifen, nicht berücksichtigen, könnten eine Mehrheit ihrer Kunden aufgrund langsamer, begrenzter oder gar unzureichender Erfahrungen den Anbieter wechseln und die Unternehmen würden ihre Kunden an Wettbewerber mit besseren, ansprechenderen Angeboten verlieren", so Daniel Weisbeck, CMO von Netbiscuits. Die iPhone-Modelle 3G, 3GS, 4, 4S stehen mit 31 % globalen Datenanteils ganz oben, gefolgt vom Samsung GT-I9100 (Galaxy S2, Galaxy Z) mit einem Anteil von 6 % und dem Samsung GT-I9300 auf Platz drei mit 4 %.
