Pioneer in Building One of Europe's Most Successful SaaS Businesses to Accelerate European Opportunities for the Subscription Economy

London - January 15, 2013

  • Zuora, the global leader in subscription commerce, billing & finance, today announced it continues to strengthen its presence and focus in Europe with the appointment of Kevin Kimber as Vice President of EMEA.

  • Kimber joins Zuora from ServiceNow, a leading provider of SaaS services that automates enterprise IT operations. While at ServiceNow, Kimber served as EMEA founder and helped drive explosive growth whilst working with many of the largest global enterprise companies to realise the value of SaaS.

  • As Vice President of EMEA for Zuora, Kimber will oversee Zuora's EMEA operations, focusing on business development and revenue growth in the region, as well as reinforcing Zuora's place at the heart of the Subscription Economy.

Zuora's growth in Europe accelerating

  • In 2012, Zuora doubled its customer base in Europe, expanding into 12 additional countries and achieving year-over-year growth of 68 percent, as enterprise and emerging companies looked to take advantage of the evolving Subscription Economy.

  • Zuora customers such as News International, Sage, Firehost, Evenbase, Pearson and Price & Quote have all capitalised on the growing trend of consumers and enterprises subscribing to services versus purchasing products, turning to Zuora to help them monetise their subscribers.

  • Zuora will look to continue its success within the region as enterprise and emerging companies look to award-winning company as an alternative to clunky enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

  • Founder of ServiceNow's EMEA operations, Kimber was part of the senior management team that saw the company reach the $100 million global revenue point in March 2011, faster than any other enterprise IT technology vendor. The company had its initial public offering in June 2012.

  • Kimber led the EMEA elements of this growth, receiving recognition from the UK IT Industry Awards, and opening offices in Amsterdam, London, Frankfurt and Paris in just over five years.

  • Previous experience also includes a senior management role at Fox IT, a global independent Service Management specialist, where he led transformation engagements for enterprises organisations.

  • "More companies, from startups to enterprises, are adopting subscription based models as the new cloud, mobile and social trends drive innovation. Zuora is responsible for driving this transformation and becoming the trusted partner for those organisations in the subscription economy" said Kimber. "I am delighted to join the management team at Zuora and to amplify the company's already impressive rates of growth and expansion across the region."

  • "Zuora has experienced explosive growth and demand for our services across the globe over the past twelve months. To continue to support ongoing demand and service innovation, we are committed to building an international leadership team with unmatched experience and talent," said Zuora CEO Tien Tzuo. Redis is not only the fastest database, but it has become the most popular among the new wave of applications running in containers. Redis speeds up just about every data interaction between your users or operational systems. In his session at 17th Cloud Expo, Dave Nielsen, Developer Relations at Redis Labs, will share the functions and data structures used to solve everyday use cases that are driving Redis' popularity
The buzz continues for cloud, data analytics and the Internet of Things (IoT) and their collective impact across all industries. But a new conversation is emerging - how do companies use industry disruption and technology enablers to lead in markets undergoing change, uncertainty and ambiguity? Organizations of all sizes need to evolve and transform, often under massive pressure, as industry lines blur and merge and traditional business models are assaulted and turned upside down. Overgrown applications have given way to modular applications, driven by the need to break larger problems into smaller problems. Similarly large monolithic development processes have been forced to be broken into smaller agile development cycles. Looking at trends in software development, microservices architectures meet the same demands. Additional benefits of microservices architectures are compartmentalization and a limited impact of service failure versus a complete software malfunction....
The last decade was about virtual machines, but the next one is about containers. Containers enable a service to run on any host at any time. Traditional tools are starting to show cracks because they were not designed for this level of application portability. Now is the time to look at new ways to deploy and manage applications at scale. In his session at @DevOpsSummit, Brian “Redbeard” Harrington, a principal architect at CoreOS, will examine how CoreOS helps teams run in production. Attende...
Containers are revolutionizing the way we deploy and maintain our infrastructures, but monitoring and troubleshooting in a containerized environment can still be painful and impractical. Understanding even basic resource usage is difficult - let alone tracking network connections or malicious activity. In his session at DevOps Summit, Gianluca Borello, Sr. Software Engineer at Sysdig, will cover the current state of the art for container monitoring and visibility, including pros / cons and li...
The Internet of Things (IoT) is growing rapidly by extending current technologies, products and networks. By 2020, Cisco estimates there will be 50 billion connected devices. Gartner has forecast revenues of over $300 billion, just to IoT suppliers. Now is the time to figure out how you’ll make money – not just create innovative products. With hundreds of new products and companies jumping into the IoT fray every month, there’s no shortage of innovation. Despite this, McKinsey/VisionMobile data...

There are many considerations when moving applications from on-premise to cloud. It is critical to understand the benefits and also challenges of this migration. A successful migration will result in lower Total Cost of Ownership, yet offer the same or higher level of robustness. Migration to cloud shifts computing resources from your data center, which can yield significant advantages provided that the cloud vendor an offer enterprise-grade quality for your application.

Developing software for the Internet of Things (IoT) comes with its own set of challenges. Security, privacy, and unified standards are a few key issues. In addition, each IoT product is comprised of at least three separate application components: the software embedded in the device, the backend big-data service, and the mobile application for the end user's controls. Each component is developed by a different team, using different technologies and practices, and deployed to a different stack/...
Containers have changed the mind of IT in DevOps. They enable developers to work with dev, test, stage and production environments identically. Containers provide the right abstraction for microservices and many cloud platforms have integrated them into deployment pipelines. DevOps and Containers together help companies to achieve their business goals faster and more effectively.
The web app is agile. The REST API is agile. The testing and planning are agile. But alas, data infrastructures certainly are not. Once an application matures, changing the shape or indexing scheme of data often forces at best a top down planning exercise and at worst includes schema changes that force downtime. The time has come for a new approach that fundamentally advances the agility of distributed data infrastructures. Come learn about a new solution to the problems faced by software organ...

The IoT is upon us, but today’s databases, built on 30-year-old math, require multiple platforms to create a single solution. Data demands of the IoT require Big Data systems that can handle ingest, transactions and analytics concurrently adapting to varied situations as they occur, with speed at scale. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Chad Jones, chief strategy officer at Deep Information Sciences, will look differently at IoT data so enterprises can fully leverage their IoT potential. He’ll sha...
