Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Awards $1.3 Million to Accela for Building, Code Enforcement, Fire, Planning, and Engineering

Five Agencies of Eastern Los Angeles Suburb Upgrade to Accela Enterprise Government Software in Preparation for Economic Recovery

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/16/13 -- Accela, Inc., the leading provider of web-, mobile-, and cloud-based software exclusively for government, announced today that Rancho Cucamonga, a suburban city in San Bernardino County, about 40 miles east of Los Angeles, will replace its Tidemark Advantage client-server system with Accela Automation® enterprise software to streamline service delivery for Building, Code Enforcement, Fire, Planning, and Engineering.

After upgrading to Accela Automation, this City with a population of approximately 165,000 will offer a number of vital public services online for the first time ever. The City will greatly improve services to citizens with a robust, fully integrated solution built around the core technology of Accela Automation. Accela Mobile Office™ will empower staff members with access to project documents from laptops and tablet PCs, providing greater convenience and faster turnaround time for building inspectors and end users. Field workers will also be supported by Accela GIS™, an integration of industry-leading ESRI ArcGIS for Server maps with Accela Automation.

Accela Citizen Access™ will enable contractors and inspectors to access services and complete processes online, including complete permit requests, research required variances, approvals and forms, have visibility to their submittal status, and process payments. Electronic document submittal and review (EDR) will be enabled through the integration of Adobe Acrobat Professional with Accela Automation. EDR will benefit government, local business, and the community by rendering the more streamlined and less costly.

Rancho Cucamonga is taking advantage of downtime provided by the economic downturn to fully immerse its staff in a new organizational culture that includes training on Accela Automation. "The best time to improve processes and become more efficient is now during a down economy when we're not overwhelmed by projects and we have the time to train staff members," said Jeff Bloom, Deputy City Manager for Economic and Community Development. "Getting started with Accela Automation will enable us to streamline our services, provide them more economically, and be fully prepared for the next wave of development activity."

"We commend Rancho Cucamonga for its wisdom in upgrading to Accela Automation at a time when the City has the time to train personnel in the new technology," said Maury Blackman, Accela CEO and President. "By getting ahead of the curve, they will no doubt be ready to better support local businesspeople, tradesmen, and developers as the economy picks up."

One of the cloud’s biggest draws is the capability to virtualize computing resources, allowing it to be consumed with the click of a mouse. But behind that simple click is an enormous infrastructure challenge that has recently been cited as a major cause for slower enterprise adoption. Enterprises can better prepare for this shift and take full advantage of future computing benefits. Between architecture design and migration planning, the road can be long, so what do you do with your talent? I...
