Powerit Solutions Announces Spara Hub™ at DistribuTECH Show

Powerit Solutions, a Seattle-based international cleantech company, is announcing the launch of its new Spara cloud product at the DistribuTECH show in San Diego this month. For an illustration of the new cloud-based product, click here.

A focus of R&D last year, Spara Hub™ takes Powerit’s advanced energy management system (EMS) into the cloud, giving Spara DM™ (Demand Manager) users and Powerit partners a user-friendly demand management tool. Spara DM (formerly Spara EMS®) uses sophisticated load prediction and control algorithms, built-in load-shedding intelligence, and data drawn from industrial equipment, electricity meters, and utility transmissions to optimize facility energy use —without compromising production. Spara Hub connects to multiple data streams and allows users to quickly get a comprehensive view of their energy usage and costs to enable optimal control for savings and sustainability. With Spara Hub, users can more effortlessly fine-tune demand control and leverage dynamic pricing and demand response programs, as well as run alternative scenarios.

“We’re delighted to announce this next step in the evolution of our technology at DistribuTECH, one of the leading smart grid shows,” says Kevin Klustner, Powerit CEO. “This extension of our technology significantly contributes to building a demand management ecosystem in industrial automation. Spara Hub will facilitate the spread of Spara through our partners, and it brings many enhancements and new features to our customers, including harnessing the power of big data.”

Available in February, Spara Hub connects changing utility data with changing customer load information in real time, enabling energy use decisions based on the price of electricity. This access to real-time utility pricing, plus integration with the latest ISO, utility, and aggregator programs, allows Spara DM users and Powerit partners to take full advantage of smart grid capabilities.

Spara Hub lets users remotely access their data on any device without maintaining on-site databases, log in to view multiple sites with one password, compare energy data across sites to get an enterprise-level view of their energy use and demand control savings, and manage demand settings and utility program participation. Spara Hub allows partners to easily integrate Spara into their solutions and analyze customer demand profiles to create tailored demand management solutions.

Going far beyond an energy pricing dashboard, Spara Hub augments Spara DM’s controls with visualization and analysis tools focused on demand management. Users can slice and dice their current and historic energy usage and costs via numerous views and graphs, and even drill down into specific loads to determine how they contributed to a demand peak. In a future release, Powerit’s aggregated energy data—a secure, protected, and anonymized data stream—will allow facilities to benchmark themselves against industry norms and help customers analyze and model potential demand control and demand response savings.

Cloud Expo Breaking News
The massive computing and storage resources that are needed to support big data applications make cloud environments an ideal fit. In Nati Shalom's upcoming session at 12th Cloud Expo | Cloud Expo New York [June 10-13, 2013], you'll learn how to build your big data "database on-demand" using MongoDB, Cassandra, Solr, MySQL, or any other big data solution, as well as manage your big data application using a new open source framework called “Cloudify.” All this, on top of the OpenStack cloud.
Planning scalable environments isn't terribly difficult, but it does require a change of perspective. During this session we'll broaden our views to think on an Internet Scale by dissecting a video publishing application built with The SoftLayer Platform, Message Queuing, Object Storage, and Drupal. By examining a scalable modular application build that can handle unpredictable traffic, you'll be able to grow your development arsenal and pick up a few strategies to apply to your own projects.
If zettabytes of data exist, why is less than 1% of the world’s data being analyzed today? Seasoned entrepreneur and startup CEO Radhika Subramanian believes that the inability to analyze and gain value from Big Data is that organizations are taking a services-centered approach. As the title of the session implies, Subramanian believes that the data needs to do the talking, not armies of analysts searching and querying databases. Her company has developed high-speed, advanced algorithms to autom...
Cloud enables SMBs to access new, scalable resources – previously only available to enterprises – in flexible and cost-effective ways. McKinsey’s SMB Cloud Report projects the public cloud market to reach $40-$50 billion by 2015, with SMBs comprising 65% of public cloud spending in 2015. But selling cloud to SMBs raises the questions of who, what and how. In this session Manjula Talreja, VP of Cisco’s Global Cloud Business Development Team, will discuss the importance of knowing who SMB...

The world’s first vendor neutral marketplace for IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) cloud computing is being built. This marketplace fills the current gap in the value chain by offering standardized products and by addressing the needs of providers and consumers of cloud computing resources. Zimory is the technical partner for the settlement process of this project. In his session at 12th Cloud Expo | Cloud Expo New York [June 10-13, 2013], Zimory CEO Rüdiger Baumann session will introduce th...
Backup, Recovery, and Archiving (BURA) are critical elements for IT to address. BURA solutions need to address a broad spectrum of needs including data protection, regulatory compliance, and business continuity. Today's cloud based solutions can enable customers to procure and consume BURA as a service supported by EMC's latest technologies. At the end of Rich Place's session at 12th Cloud Expo | Cloud Expo New York [June 10-13, 2013], you will be able to: 1. Gain a full understanding of Backup,...
