Morphlabs Delivers First Modular, OpenStack-powered Public Cloud Platform for Service Providers

Morphlabs, the leader in converged OpenStack® solutions for service providers and the enterprise, today announced the launch of mCloud Osmium, an OpenStack-powered, modular public cloud platform that empowers Service Providers to immediately implement highly scalable public clouds without research and development (R&D) or massive capital expenditure investments. Morphlabs also announced mCloud Helix 2.0, an upgrade to the company’s private cloud platform that provides 2.5 times the compute power as the previous mCloud Helix in the same footprint, while increasing options for modularity.

“Morphlabs has maintained a consistent philosophy toward cloud computing throughout our existence—one that is based on delivering both price performance and ease-of-use,” said Morphlabs CEO Winston Damarillo. “With mCloud Osmium, we are empowering Service Providers to compete head-to-head with Amazon Web Services, offering a solution that has a low-barrier to entry and out-performs AWS, while still providing the scalability necessary to grow your business. The mCloud Helix 2.0 keeps with our original density and efficiency goals, while increasing capacity and performance, further lowering the barrier to entry in the private cloud space and increasing utility.”

mCloud Osmium is a multi-tenant, scalable public cloud solution with built-in billing software that immediately gives service providers the ability to compete effectively with Amazon Web Services (AWS) in price and performance with zero R&D. Service Providers can build a public cloud in 100 vCPU and 15 terabyte (TB) blocks, that scale as needed, dramatically lowering the barrier to entry for public cloud services. mCloud Osmium eliminates complex software licensing, allowing Service Providers to simply subscribe to software for $10/vCPU/month, and $100/TB/month. Service Providers can now begin offering OpenStack-powered public cloud solutions to their customers for as low as $1,000 a month.

Morphlabs encourages qualified service providers to experience mCloud Osmium through a private beta trial program, available at www.morphlabs.com.

The upgraded mCloud Helix 2.0 continues to set the standard as the most efficient, enterprise-ready private cloud solution, with the enhanced version more than doubling in capacity and scaling to suit enterprise business needs in resiliency, compute and storage. Available in both on-premises and hosted capacities, the mCloud Helix 2.0 features larger internal storage and compute—moving from 3TB to 4TB and 80 vCPU to 200 vCPU, respectively—while delivering both storage and computing expanders to modularly grow the infrastructure as needed. With increased scalability, the mCloud Helix 2.0 now allows for private cloud deployments of up to 2,000 vCPU.

One of the cloud’s biggest draws is the capability to virtualize computing resources, allowing it to be consumed with the click of a mouse. But behind that simple click is an enormous infrastructure challenge that has recently been cited as a major cause for slower enterprise adoption. Enterprises can better prepare for this shift and take full advantage of future computing benefits. Between architecture design and migration planning, the road can be long, so what do you do with your talent? I...
In the old world of IT, if you didn't have hardware capacity or the budget to buy more, your project was dead in the water. Budget constraints can leave some of the best, most creative and most ingenious innovations on the cutting room floor. It’s a true dilemma for developers and innovators – why spend the time creating, when a project could be abandoned in a blink? That was the old world. In the new world of IT, developers rule. They have access to resources they can spin up instantly. A hyb...
