Workshare Launches Desktop Apps for Offline File Syncing

Workshare, a leading provider of secure enterprise collaboration applications, today announced the launch of Workshare Desktop Sync. The new applications enable information professionals to synchronize all of their files and documents between the Workshare platform and their Windows or Mac OS desktop, whether online or offline.

With today’s growing mobile workforce and the increasing trend of Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) in the enterprise, many information professionals rely on a multitude of devices to collaborate and work from various locations. Workshare Desktop Sync provides file access, file updates, presence indicators and positional commenting for all collaborating parties – on any device, from any location.

Key benefits include:

  • Simple, intuitive sharing – With up to 700 file types supported, Workshare allows users to share and update their files and folders with only a few clicks or via a simple drag and drop. Available directly from popular programs and applications, including Microsoft Office and SharePoint, comments and changes can be saved and accessed from widely used applications to the Workshare platform.
  • Transparent syncing across devices – File, folder, comments and more are synchronized between Workshare and Mac or Windows devices, even as users go from offline and online mode, allowing for continued productivity on the road or away from the office.
  • Powerful, efficient collaboration, online or offline – Workshare Desktop Sync allows for instant and precise document review, as well as team presence indicators to see when collaborators are online, viewing or making changes in real-time. Featuring the leading, patented DeltaView™ technology, Workshare Desktop Sync allows collaborators to easily view new updates or changes on documents, quickly compare versions and work faster by reviewing changes by category.
  • Secure, controlled access to content – Workshare Desktop Sync enables collaborators to choose recipients of links to content and assign file permissions. Teams follow the links to files hosted on Workshare’s platform, where authentication and assigned security permissions, such as password protection, time limits and notifications to changes or comments, are controlled. Data in flight is encrypted through managed file exchange using 128-bit SSL.

The integrated solution extends Workshare’s trusted reputation as the industry’s most secure collaboration platform architected specifically for the enterprise and industries that handle sensitive and proprietary information.

“We have been able to swiftly meet customer demands for a desktop application that allows users to share files and collaborate easily. At the same time, Workshare Desktop Sync satisfies customers’ company requirement for a secure collaboration solution in the BYOD era. Our 1.8 million customers can now benefit from our powerful collaboration platform whether they are online or offline on any device,” said Anthony Foy, CEO of Workshare. “We will continue to innovate and place the highest premium on efficiency – and on security – as we evolve to meet the changing ways we work.”

“Workshare has established a solid reputation for its enterprise desktop collaboration solutions – and is now displaying the agility of a startup by quickly responding to the market demands,” said Kristine Kao, associate analyst at ESG. “Fifty-seven percent of organizations cite security concerns as an inhibitor to adoption, so this solution is timely and should provide a compelling option for companies facing the combined security challenges of BYOD with an ongoing need to make collaboration more secure, as well as easier to use.”
