Les consommateurs veulent un plus grand choix sur leur façon de mélanger et d'’associer les services, et ils sont prêts à payer pour un niveau accru de personnalisation à travers les services, notamment : courrier électronique, navigation Web, réseautage social, jeux multi-joueurs, sports/actualités/vidéo, voix sur IP, télévision et films, Cloud, verrouillage/effacement à distance.
En outre, les clients ont classé les concepts de tarification basés sur l'utilisation et les applications spécifiques plus haut que ceux basés sur le debit de la bande passante/performance, le partage/groupement des appareils par les familles, l'utilisation occasionnelle, ou l'accès gratuit avec publicité. Les operateurs bénéficient d'une opportunité de générer des revenus supplémentaires en vendant des services personnalisés aux clients dont les appareils sont compatibles, mais qui ne font pas encore partie d'un plan de données mobiles.
Ce ne sont là que quelques-unes des perspectives présentées dans « Mobile Broadband Pricing and Bundling – the Voice of the Consumer » (Tarification et offres groupées de haut débit mobile – la voix du consommateur), un rapport d'une portée inégalée en termes d'analyses quantitatives et statistiques sur les préférences des abonnés pour des offres groupées de services et de tarification, et les facteurs motivant leurs choix.
Ce rapport, parrainé par Tekelec, présente des données composites et régionales obtenues auprès de quelques 3500 consommateurs de haut débit mobile de cinq pays : Brésil, Inde, Corée du Sud, Royaume-Uni et États-Unis.
Il fournit une mine d'informations que les operateurs peuvent utiliser pour élaborer des services personnalisés générateurs de revenus et de fidelite clients. « La compréhension des différences démographiques, de la propriété des terminaux mobiles, et des indicateurs d'expérience utilisateurs des services aidera les operateurs à comprendre les clients : ce qui leur plait, ce qui les déçoit, ce qui les motive et les inspire, non seulement en tant qu'individus, mais également en tant que membres de communautés et de groupes dans un monde de plus en plus mobile et de plus en plus axé sur les médias sociaux », a déclaré Houck Reed, vice-président, management produit et marketing chez Tekelec.
Conclusions clés du rapport :
Une tarification dépendante de la durée d'utilisation et un paiement pour des applications spécifiques sont les concepts de tarification préférés mondialement.
- Le partage par les familles est le modèle de tarification préféré en Corée du Sud et se place en deuxième position sur sept aux États-Unis.
- L'accès gratuit s'est classé très différemment dans chaque pays, fournissant un indicateur des pays qui pourraient être plus ouverts à la publicité mobile et à un accès gratuit subventionné. Ainsi, 86 % des enquêtés brésiliens exprimaient un intérêt vis-à-vis de l'accès gratuit en tant que concept de tarification.
La sécurité (verrouillage/effacement à distance), la navigation Web et le courrier électronique ressortent comme les services préférés à l'échelle mondiale.
- Le Brésil, l'Inde, et la Corée du Sud préfèrent les services axés sur le consommateur et le divertissement tels que la VoIP et la vidéo, tandis que le Royaume-Uni et les États-Unis préfèrent les services axés sur la productivité tels que la navigation Web et le courrier électronique.
Dans tous les pays étudiés, les enquêtés ont indiqué préférer nettement une offre groupée de services multiples (deux ou trois ou quatre de leur choix) à un seul service.
- Bien qu'ils ne demandent pas une sélection infinie, les clients désirent un certain choix et une certaine variété, car ils veulent utiliser leur terminal mobile pour plusieurs applications.
Outre des constatations clés, le rapport révèle des corrélations importantes entre les données, notamment :
- L'utilisation de points d'accès sans fil est un indicateur que les abonnés attribuent les dépenses en données mobiles à la Wifi, ce qui pourrait constituer un drapeau rouge pour de nouvelles opportunités commerciales.
- Les enquêtés qui n'utilisent pas actuellement le haut débit mobile avec une tablette ou un ordinateur portable, mais qui payent pour une connectivité de point d'accès sans fil représentent un marché viable non exploité.
- Les passionnés qui payent pour se connecter à des points d'accès sans fil dépensent 104 USD par an pour ces points d'accès contre 76 USD par an pour les non-passionnés (il est intéressant de noter qu'un nombre significatif de gens dépensent plus de 500 USD/an pour des points d'accès sans fil au Brésil, tandis qu'au Royaume-Uni, la majorité ne dépensent pas un centime pour ces points d'accès).
Ce ne sont là que quelques-unes des constatations que les operateurs peuvent utiliser pour évaluer l'appétit du consommateur pour une tarification et une offre groupée plus sophistiquée.
« Ce rapport est unique en ce sens que les operateurs entendent les voix de leurs consommateurs : comment ils utilisent les services haut débit mobile, les modèles de tarification qu'ils préfèrent, les services qu'ils préfèrent, et les facteurs qui influencent leurs décisions d'achat de haut débit mobile », a commenté J. Randolph Luening, vice-président en économie sans fil du Signals Research Group.
