Euronet Worldwide, Inc. Research Report
Euronet also focuses on expanding its global network. The company has recently announced the acquisition of Pure Commerce, an Australia-based company offering cloud-based financial and payment solutions. The acquisition would allow Euronet to expand its services and operating markets. The company expects the acquisition to contribute approximately three to four cents to its annual cash EPS in 2013. On February 15, 2013 it will release its Q4 2012 earnings results. With migration from developing to developed countries increasing, remittances are becoming more relevant for all major developing economies in the world. Leading money transfer companies like Western Union and Euronet compete on the basis of technology, price, and quality of service offered to remitters. Audience Inc. Research Report
Audio chip maker Audience, in particular, diversified its customer base away from Apple's iPhone by developing chips for Samsung smartphones and Google's Nexus 10 tablet. The move sent the company's shares up by more than 25 percent as the company forecasts Q1 results at much higher numbers compared to the expectation of analysts. Audience expects revenue will come in at $43 million to $46 million and profit at $1.9 million to $2.9 million. This comes after rumors of fraud by way of fake Twitter posts brought the shares down by over 25 percent a few days ago. The Twitter account of a certain Conrad Block, which had thought to be from short-selling firm Muddy Waters, tweeted that Audience is being investigated by the DOJ on rumored fraud charges. The firm then denied this in its actual Twitter page. Audience's deal with Samsung will set the tone for its future as sales of Apple devices slowly decline, with the Korean smartphone manufacturer accounting for more than half of Audience's revenue. The company's chips are used in Samsung's flagship Galaxy S3, and the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. ON Semiconductor Corp. Research Report
Energy efficient device chipmaker ON Semiconductor released two new image signal processor chips for both automotive and consumer applications, used for electronics that use small LCD screens. Their chips can enhance the miniscule screens' display resolution to create sharper and clearer images.
Carmakers like GM and Toyota have expressed interest, and the company believes the two will ensure increased adoption. ON Semiconductor expects that shipments of automotive displays may reach 116.8 million units by 2016, growing at a double-digit rate in each year.Zacks puts the company on a "neutral" stance, citing poor European numbers and sluggish demand in China as factors. However, diversifications across different markets, restructuring efforts, and acquisitions have countered the negatives. Anheuser-Busch InBev SA/NV Research Report
InBev, the brewer of Budweiser, is set to go back to its attempt to take full control of Grupo Modelo SAB de CV or the brewer of Corona beer. The previous $20 billion deal was barred by the DOJ due to antitrust concerns, asking the company to either give up more control of its US beer distribution or sell a brewery. A Reuters report suggests that the new proposal would be letting other companies brew Corona in the US, while still keeping its prospects in Mexico. The acquisition would ensure InBev a larger share of a market full of potential while cutting costs. InBev already holds half of Modelo after it acquired Anheuser-Busch in 2008. In other news, the company will officially unveil the Budweiser Black Crown during this year's Super Bowl, after releasing the Bud Light Platinum the same time last year. The brew has added alcohol content and a slightly higher price tag, which would appeal to more beer drinkers, specifically the younger age bracket of 21 to 34-year-olds. Diageo plc. Research Report
Wine and spirit giant Diageo has partnered with India's largest spirits company United Spirits Limited to buyout United National Breweries' traditional sorghum beer business in South Africa, with a 50-50 split between the two companies. Diageo, who owns popular brands such as Smirnoff, Black Label, and Guinness, has been gradually shifting its focus towards developing markets as economic uncertainty persists in Europe. The company has seen rises in sales in Latin America and Asia, while its stronghold in Africa has strengthened with new staff in South Africa and Nigeria. Motley Fool placed a "buy" rating especially for those seeking "safety" against current "macroeconomic uncertainty," describing Diageo stock as a "quality defensive stock." Analysts expect growth in earnings per share, dividend payouts, and total revenues.
