CodenomiCON 2013 July 30th Las Vegas: Howard Schmidt Keynotes the Leading Conference on Managing Previously-Unknown Vulnerabilities and Common Vulnerabilities (CVE) in Software, Firmware, and IT Hardware

Codenomicon, the market leader in security stress-testing, announced today Howard A. Schmidt will keynote CodenomiCON 2013 on July 30, 2013, the Leading Conference on Managing Previously-Unknown Vulnerabilities and Common Vulnerabilities (CVE®) in Software, Firmware, and IT Hardware. Last month, Schmidt accepted the position of Chairman of the Codenomicon Board of Directors; he has been a member of the Codenomicon Board of Directors for over two years.

Schmidt is an internationally distinguished security expert, who served President Barack Obama as White House Cybersecurity Coordinator until May 2012. During the Administration of George W. Bush, Schmidt served as vice chair of the President's Critical Infrastructure Protection Board and special adviser for Cyberspace Security for the White House. While serving the Bush Administration in 2002, Schmidt first became familiar with the efforts of Codenomicon’s founders when they released a security advisory on critical vulnerabilities in the SNMP network communications protocol. Due to the criticality of the SNMP security vulnerabilities, the Administration discussed the security advisory inside the Oval Office. Previously, Schmidt was Chief Security Strategist for the US CERT Partners Program for the National Cyber Security Division, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). His private-sector experience includes serving as Vice President, Chief Information Security Officer, and Chief Security Strategist at eBay and as Chief Security Officer for Microsoft. Prior to Microsoft, Schmidt served in leadership roles in the U.S. Air Force and FBI.

CodenomiCON 2013 features two panel discussions. Scott Kaine (Cyveillance), Martin McKeay (Akamai Technologies), and David Chartier (Codenomicon) serve on the Financial Services Quantum Dawn 2 Panel Discussion moderated by Richard Targett (Anicon Group). Quantum Dawn 2 is the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) cybersecurity exercise to test the US Financial Sector; participants in the Quantum Dawn 2 exercise are financial firms, securities exchanges, US Treasury, and US DHS.

CodenomiCON 2013 spotlights top presentations. Billy Rios (Cylance) introduces the latest security research on medical devices and industrial control systems. Dan Birtwhistle (Roche Diagnostics) discusses his experiences in testing the communications protocols in medical devices. Michelle Cantone, Wesley Marsh Jr., and Dan Byrnside (winning team from James Madison University’s Infosec MBA Program Case Study Competition) present the case study Amazon Kindle: The Cost of Vulnerability Persistence. Mikko Varpiola (Codenomicon) provides an overview and demo of Codenomicon’s new Defensics 11 release. Antti Hayrynen (Codenomicon) presents Total Vulnerability Management: Finding and Fixing Known Vulns and Zero-Days.

CodenomiCON 2013 occurs from 4pm to 9pm on Tuesday July 30, 2013 in Las Vegas, which is the same week Black Hat USA and DEF CON take place in Las Vegas. For all attendees, admission to the event is gratis. To request an invitation to CodenomiCON 2013, go to www.codenomicon.com/campaign/blackhat2013/

The precious oil is extracted from the seeds of prickly pear cactus plant. After taking out the seeds from the fruits, they are adequately dried and then cold pressed to obtain the oil. Indeed, the prickly seed oil is quite expensive. Well, that is understandable when you consider the fact that the seeds are really tiny and each seed contain only about 5% of oil in it at most, plus the seeds are usually handpicked from the fruits. This means it will take tons of these seeds to produce just one bottle of the oil for commercial purpose. But from its medical properties to its culinary importance, skin lightening, moisturizing, and protection abilities, down to its extraordinary hair care properties, prickly seed oil has got lots of excellent rewards for anyone who pays the price.
