Best Practices for Managing Virtualization and Cloud Infrastructure

Convirture addresses new challenges for data center operators

Convirture is doing a series of seven webinars on best practices for managing virtualization and cloud infrastructure that will take place every two weeks and extend through May. The free webinars address some of the most common and challenging use cases facing data center operators today.

The first webinar is scheduled Thursday, March 6 and addresses the issue of bill shock experienced by some enterprises that are discovering multiple Amazon Web Services (AWS) accounts, or multiple users sharing a single AWS account, or some combination of both.

"We've heard over and over that they don't know who is using what services, how much is being used, and what its costing the organization as a whole," said Arsalan Farooq, CEO of Convirture. "In many cases, business units - and not the information technology (IT) department - signed up to use Amazon computing resources."

The first webinar in the series, on March 6, 2014, will address Quota and User Management for AWS. Items that will be covered include:

  • Central management of all AWS accounts
  • Controlling user access
  • Defining and enforcing quota limits to manage costs and usage

• Giving business customers self-service access to AWS resources

Future webinars include:

Information on all the upcoming webinars can be found at www.convirture.com/webinars.php. In addition, there are three recorded webinars available on-demand at www.convirture.com/webinars.php#videos.

CloudEXPO Stories
Every organization is facing their own Digital Transformation as they attempt to stay ahead of the competition, or worse, just keep up. Each new opportunity, whether embracing machine learning, IoT, or a cloud migration, seems to bring new development, deployment, and management models. The results are more diverse and federated computing models than any time in our history.
On-premise or off, you have powerful tools available to maximize the value of your infrastructure and you demand more visibility and operational control. Fortunately, data center management tools keep a vigil on memory contestation, power, thermal consumption, server health, and utilization, allowing better control no matter your cloud's shape. In this session, learn how Intel software tools enable real-time monitoring and precise management to lower operational costs and optimize infrastructure for today even as you're forecasting for tomorrow.

While a hybrid cloud can ease that transition, designing and deploy that hybrid cloud still offers challenges for organizations concerned about lack of available cloud skillsets within their organization. Managed service providers offer a unique opportunity to fill those gaps and get organizations of all sizes on a hybrid cloud that meets their comfort level, while delivering enhanced benefits for cost, efficiency, agility, mobility, and elasticity.
