Actuate to Host Industry Expert Panel on “Building the Next Big App” at July 10th Product Launch Event for BIRT Community

Actuate Corporation (NASDAQ:BIRT), The BIRT Company™ and the leader in personalized analytics and insights, today announced they will host an interactive panel discussion as part of their July 10, 2014 product launch event at Club Auto Sport in San Jose, California. The “Building the Next Big App” panel comprises industry experts and analysts from the fields of open source, business intelligence, customer experience, and consumer brand marketing. The panel discussion, with Q&A, will revolve around how shifting consumer behaviors, new digital channels, app standards and open source trends – particularly in Big Data – are influencing customer-facing application development. The Panel will be moderated by Allen Bonde (@abonde), Vice President of Product Marketing and Innovation at Actuate, co-founder of SaaS innovator Offerpop, and former Yankee Group and McKinsey analyst.

Meet the Panelists

Stephen O’Grady (@sogrady) brings to the panel discussion a deep dedication to developers and development issues. He is Principal Analyst and Co-Founder of RedMonk, the leading developer-focused industry analyst firm, and author of The New Kingmakers. In his own words, his job is “to help companies understand developers and to help developers.” In the firm’s own words, “RedMonk analysts spend their days learning from the developers who are defining the future of technology, distilling our findings into free research, and working with clients to explain the likely impact.”

Mike Milinkovich (@mmilinko) brings a deep understanding of the open source software movement to the panel discussion. A globally recognized thought leader in open source, Milinkovich is the Executive Director of the 10-year-old Eclipse Foundation, the non-profit organization that hosts, supports and cultivates Java based, C++ based, and PHP-based open source projects, including the BIRT Project co-founded by Actuate in 2004. Milinkovich serves on the board of the Open Source Initiative, and was formerly a vice president at Oracle as well as at WebGain.

Loie Maxwell (@loiemaxwell), Chief Marketing Officer at Social Imprints, and advisor to several top consumer brands, brings to the panel the perspective of how consumer design and experiences are influencing user expectations for business apps, and how designers can create data-driven experiences that build brand love and loyalty. Most recently as VP of Creative at Starbucks, she led efforts to drive audience engagement with the Starbucks brand via a new content strategy, was instrumental in the launch into the India market, and led the brand launch of Evolution Fresh Juices and TAZO’s first retail store.

Esteban Kolsky (@ekolsky) brings to the panel discussion unique insights on customer engagement and application development, as well as his thought leadership in customer relationship management and social business. He is Principal and Founder of ThinkJar, an advisory and research think-tank, a top-rated blogger, and a member of the advisory boards for Klever and for Constellation Research. He has also worked as a research director at Gartner Research, where he developed the CIH (Customer Interaction Hub) model.
