In this year’s second quarter, Chinese PC maker Lenovo was top dog in the country’s smartphone market, with a 12.5 percent share, according to research firm IDC. This put Lenovo only slightly ahead of fledgling smartphone maker Xiaomi, which had a 12.4 percent share.  Read Original Content

A VisionMobile’s Economics report was done over the 10,000 developers from the 137 countries worldwide during five weeks of April and May. The mobile application poverty line is $500 per app. The report states almost 50 percent iOS and 64 percent Android apps are residing below the app poverty line. Read Original Content

LG Electronics has begun selling its latest flagship smartphone in China, a market where it has struggled to make a dent. Eager to capitalize on strong early reception for its G3, the company said it would sell the device through online shopping site JD.com.  Read Original Content

It may sound unbelievable but an Israeli start-up has announced it is working to develop a bio-organic system that can recharge a smartphone battery in just 30 seconds.  The company known as StoreDot said its prototype battery charger is currently being tested with Samsung’s Galaxy phones.  Read Original Content

In 2013 the introduction of the first fingerprint sensor by Apple in the iPhone 5s triggered the growth of the fingerprint sensors market immensely. Owing to this, it is expected the fingerprint sensors market will jump up to $14.35 billion in 2020.  Read Original Content

In 2013 there were approximately 6.7 billion mobile subscriptions around the world. By 2019 this number is expected to grow to 9.3 billion subscriptions; 5.3 billion of these subscriptions will be smartphones, according to June 2014 Ericsson Mobility Report.  Read Original Content

The Canadian smartphone market has gotten a little more crowded, with ZTE announcing its Grand X smartphone is now available from major Canadian carriers for the first time.  A Chinese-based company, ZTE is a global smartphone vendor and has had success in the pre-paid market, but this is its first deal with a major Canadian carrier. Black House Media, a Lagos-based public relations agency, has announced the launch of its mobile application called BHM App.  The app, according to the company’s founder, Ayeni Adekunle, is the first and only mobile application in Nigeria’s PR market, and a resource center for the entire media and marketing industries.  Read Original Content

Google purchased a new messaging application called Emu, a former IM Client that stood out in the market due to its smart features. Emu was released as a beta earlier this year and was often compared to Siri, the virtual assistant that automates tasks based on conversations. Read Original Content

According to Strategy Analytics, Samsung Electronics snatched the top spot from Apple in the North American handset market. LG Electronics' market share also surged to record highs, which placed the company in third place.  Read Original Content

According to comScore, Apple ranked as the top smartphone manufacturer with 42.1 percent original equipment manufacturer market share, while Google Android led as the number one smartphone platform with 51.9 percent platform market share. Adding public cloud resources to an existing application can be a daunting process.
