Using Management Cloud By @JackieKahle | @CloudExpo [#Cloud]

Approaching IT service delivery through a business lens makes all the difference

IT High on the Totem Pole: Using Management Cloud to Get There

IT's role is changing dramatically from working in isolation to operating hand in hand with the business team. Successful IT leaders understand that they need to keep a pulse on the newest technologies and work in unison with their business counterparts in order to remain at the forefront of their industry. By approaching IT service delivery through a business lens, IT is able to streamline processes, lessen the IT management burden, and empower end users. Management Cloud: IT's Key to the New Front Office, a CA Technologies eBook, has the details on how Management Cloud allows IT to move up the totem pole.

The Management Cloud Advantage
Management Cloud is comprised of a set of integrated business applications delivered as cloud services. Namely, Management Cloud provides elegant solutions by defining and aligning strategic plans and investment allocations in the context of business goals. It diffuses confusion around strategic IT priorities, reduces the complexities of technologies and systems, and enables teams and employees to manage and collaborate on projects by removing silos.

We already know that technology plays a large role in the day-to-day operations of businesses, but now is the time for IT to step up and influence the formations and implementation of business strategy. CIO's must empower IT leaders to communicate the great value IT provides to everyone from the top down to the end-user. According to a survey conducted by CA Technologies in March 2014, forty-three percent of respondents believe IT must align closer with the business to understand key priorities.

IT as a Business Adviser
Customers today are more likely to interact with your app than your staff. That means every business is a software business, and IT needs to be more agile than ever before in order to succeed in the application economy. Survey respondents who were asked about the primary role of IT currently and in three years' time emphasized the importance of the role of IT as strategic business partner and advisor in the future.

Has your IT team moved to the front office yet? More information on Management Cloud and IT's new role is available in Management Cloud: IT's Key to the New Front Office.

CloudEXPO Stories
CI/CD is conceptually straightforward, yet often technically intricate to implement since it requires time and opportunities to develop intimate understanding on not only DevOps processes and operations, but likely product integrations with multiple platforms. This session intends to bridge the gap by offering an intense learning experience while witnessing the processes and operations to build from zero to a simple, yet functional CI/CD pipeline integrated with Jenkins, Github, Docker and Azure.
The now mainstream platform changes stemming from the first Internet boom brought many changes but didn’t really change the basic relationship between servers and the applications running on them. In fact, that was sort of the point. In his session at 18th Cloud Expo, Gordon Haff, senior cloud strategy marketing and evangelism manager at Red Hat, will discuss how today’s workloads require a new model and a new platform for development and execution. The platform must handle a wide range of recent developments, including containers and Docker, distributed resource management, and DevOps tool chains and processes. The resulting infrastructure and management framework must be optimized for distributed and scalable applications, take advantage of innovation stemming from a wide variety of open source projects, span hybrid environments, and be adaptable to equally fundamental changes happen...
