Updated Racemi Software Makes Cloud Migrations Easier | @CloudExpo #Cloud

Adds Cloud Formation templates, improves synchronization and automates server size selection

Racemi, a provider of automated server migration software, announces availability of updated DynaCenter software that offers Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud Formation templates to simplify installation and configuration, plus support for eight additional IBM SoftLayer data centers giving customers a choice of deploying to 20 SoftLayer data centers around the globe.

In addition, it's now possible to "quiesce" services on source and target servers before synchronization in order to ensure file and application consistency. This new feature is especially useful for database servers and other applications that cache changes in memory for high performance.

Another usability improvement is automatic server size selection when deploying and migrating servers to AWS or SoftLayer cloud platforms. DynaCenter can automatically select the appropriate server size on the cloud based on the processor and memory information in the image captured from the source server.

The eight additional SoftLayer data centers supported are located in Amsterdam, Dallas, Frankfurt, Milan, Montreal, Queretaro (Mexico), Sydney and Tokyo.

Already, customers have a choice of deploying to 10 Amazon data centers worldwide.

"We've taken automation for moving workloads to AWS and SoftLayer clouds to an even higher level simplifying the migration process and making it faster than ever before," said James Strayer, vice president of product management, Racemi. "Racemi delivers customers the broadest coverage and deepest integration with AWS and SoftLayer clouds."

Licensing of DynaCenter starts at $299 per successful workload migration, with volume discounts available. Racemi also offers no cost migration options to qualified AWS and SoftLayer customers.

Racemi is an AWS Technology Partner and was awarded a Partner Network Leadership Award at the most recent AWS re:Invent show.

Racemi's DynaCenter migration software captures the entire server stack-including operating system, applications, and configuration-and automatically converts it to run on the selected cloud platform by applying the necessary tools and drivers during the migration process. This ensures existing workloads are migrated in their time-tested configuration, resulting in improved reliability and reduced support requirements. There is no infrastructure to deploy or maintain on the customer's site and key features such as Live Capture ensure there is no server downtime. All customer data is secured and compressed using AES/RSA SSL encryption over firewall- friendly, fault tolerant outbound HTTPS connections to provide maximum protection and reliability.

CloudEXPO Stories
CI/CD is conceptually straightforward, yet often technically intricate to implement since it requires time and opportunities to develop intimate understanding on not only DevOps processes and operations, but likely product integrations with multiple platforms. This session intends to bridge the gap by offering an intense learning experience while witnessing the processes and operations to build from zero to a simple, yet functional CI/CD pipeline integrated with Jenkins, Github, Docker and Azure.
The now mainstream platform changes stemming from the first Internet boom brought many changes but didn’t really change the basic relationship between servers and the applications running on them. In fact, that was sort of the point. In his session at 18th Cloud Expo, Gordon Haff, senior cloud strategy marketing and evangelism manager at Red Hat, will discuss how today’s workloads require a new model and a new platform for development and execution. The platform must handle a wide range of recent developments, including containers and Docker, distributed resource management, and DevOps tool chains and processes. The resulting infrastructure and management framework must be optimized for distributed and scalable applications, take advantage of innovation stemming from a wide variety of open source projects, span hybrid environments, and be adaptable to equally fundamental changes happen...
CloudEXPO New York 2018, colocated with DXWorldEXPO New York 2018 will be held November 11-13, 2018, in New York City and will bring together Cloud Computing, FinTech and Blockchain, Digital Transformation, Big Data, Internet of Things, DevOps, AI, Machine Learning and WebRTC to one location.
Bill Schmarzo, Tech Chair of "Big Data | Analytics" of upcoming CloudEXPO | DXWorldEXPO New York (November 12-13, 2018, New York City) today announced the outline and schedule of the track. "The track has been designed in experience/degree order," said Schmarzo. "So, that folks who attend the entire track can leave the conference with some of the skills necessary to get their work done when they get back to their offices. It actually ties back to some work that I'm doing at the University of San Francisco which creates an "Outcomes-Centric Business Analytics" degree." For years the world's most security-focused and distributed organizations - banks, military/defense agencies, global enterprises - have sought to adopt cloud technologies that can reduce costs, future-proof against data growth, and improve user productivity. The challenges of cloud transformation for these kinds of secure organizations have centered around data security, migration from legacy systems, and performance. In our presentation, we will discuss the notion that cloud computing, properly managed, is poised to bring about a digital transformation to enterprise IT. We will discuss the trend, the technology and the timeline for adoption.
