Citrix Named Top VDI Vendor By @ChrisFleck | @CloudExpo @Citrix #API #IoT

Achieved Highest Score among All Evaluated Vendors in Strategy and Current Offering Categories

Citrix Named Top Virtual Desktop (VDI) Vendor by Forrester

Citrix announced that the company has been named as a leader in the Forrester Research, Inc. report, The Forrester WaveTM: Server-Hosted Virtual Desktops (VDI), Q3 2015. The report evaluated seven vendors based on 26 criteria, including current offering, strategy and market presence.

According to the report, the "XenDesktop VDI offering is distinctive at several levels, from the user experience with Citrix Receiver endpoint clients that offer native HDX protocol support on all device and OS platforms to rich 3D graphics and multiple 4K monitor support and sophisticated features for multimedia and videoconferencing performance." The report also noted that Citrix offers a "clever Wi-Fi-based mouse that works with the Citrix Receiver on the iOS platform."

Citrix also received the highest scores for strategy and current offering, and is the only solution in the evaluation to offer FIPS 140-2 compliance, key encryption standard required by Federal government agencies. The report states that "on the back end, application layering and personal vDisks help customers make better use of storage resources with pooled desktop instances, and customers can deploy them on Citrix, VMware or Microsoft hypervisors - a significant advantage."

The report notes that "Citrix consolidated its platforms in 2014, and finally has a single management console for the whole VDI stack" and that "XenDesktop is also part of the most complete suite of digital workspace delivery systems technologies in the industry, which includes XenApp for proven session-hosted desktop capabilities if desired."

XenDesktop delivers virtual Windows desktops as secure mobile services to any device. Built on a third generation FlexCast Management Architecture (FMA), XenDesktop offers a hybrid cloud-ready platform that separates the management plane from the workload. As a result, IT can securely deliver published apps on-premises and manage workers and mobile workspaces either on-premises or in the cloud.

" Citrix leads the market in secure desktop delivery solutions providing people with the applications, desktops and data they need to be productive. We believe this Forrester Wave report illustrates how our relentless focus on securely delivering an unparalleled experience, coupled with the flexibility to run on any infrastructure, provides the best VDI solution value available today." "IBM is really all in on blockchain. We take a look at sort of the history of blockchain ledger technologies. It started out with bitcoin, Ethereum, and IBM evaluated these particular blockchain technologies and found they were anonymous and permissionless and that many companies were looking for permissioned blockchain," stated René Bostic, Technical VP of the IBM Cloud Unit in North America, in this SYS-CON.tv interview at 21st Cloud Expo, held Oct 31 – Nov 2, 2017, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA.

Everyone wants the rainbow - reduced IT costs, scalability, continuity, flexibility, manageability, and innovation. But in order to get to that collaboration rainbow, you need the cloud! In this presentation, we'll cover three areas: First - the rainbow of benefits from cloud collaboration. There are many different reasons why more and more companies and institutions are moving to the cloud. Benefits include: cost savings (reducing on-prem infrastructure, reducing data center foot print, reducing IT support costs), enabling growth (ensuring a highly available, highly scalable infrastructure), increasing employee access & engagement (by having collaboration tools that are usable and available globally regardless of location there will be an increased connectedness amongst teams and individuals that will help increase both efficiency and productivity.)
