The Miss Texas Organization Announces a New Franchise in East Texas

FORT WORTH, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 12/06/07 -- The Miss Texas Organization is pleased to announce a new Franchise. The Miss East Texas Organization is a local preliminary pageant in the Miss America Organization. The Miss America program is the world's largest source of scholarships for young women, making available over $45 million annually. It is a grass roots organization, operated by thousands of volunteers at the Local and State levels.

A sister program to Miss America is Miss America's Outstanding Teen, which promotes scholastic achievement, creative accomplishment, healthy living and community involvement for America's teens offering the opportunity to win college scholarship funds as well.

Each contestant is required to have a platform issue for which she has volunteered and supported. Titleholders at the Local, State and National level have been active in issues such as: Breast Cancer Awareness, Mentoring, Volunteerism, Raising Self-Esteem in Children and Youth, HIV/AIDS and Diabetes Awareness and Education to name a few.

The winners of Miss East Texas and Miss Teen East Texas will compete for the State title of Miss Texas and Miss Teen Texas. The winners of the State title will then represent the State of Texas at the Miss America Pageant and the Miss America's Outstanding Teen Pageant.

Participation in the Miss America Program helps contestants to not only gain increased confidence and self awareness, but helps improve their interview and communication skills, their poise and the ability to face an audience -- all skills needed by today's young women as they embark upon their chosen career.

"You would be absolutely amazed at the growth in self-confidence in the young women who participate in this program! Part of the selection process is a personal interview in front of seven judges where they must be able to state a well informed position on the relevant issues of the day, such as the war in Iraq, cloning, and closing our southern borders." You have the opportunity to help develop these leaders of tomorrow by providing opportunities for Miss East Texas and Miss Teen East Texas to speak before groups to which you may belong.

The Pageant will be held on January 12, 2008 at Mabank High School at 7:00pm. In order to compete for the Miss East Texas title, you must be a young, single woman who has never been married. You must have reached your 17th birthday by January 12, 2008 and be no older than 24 years of age on December 31, 2008. You may be an amateur or professional. Further, you must expect to be a high school graduate, successfully completed the G.E.D. testing program for high school equivalency, or have completed the academic requirements for entry into a four-year college/university degree program by July 30, 2008. Areas of competition are Talent, Interview, Swimsuit, and Evening Wear.

The challenges of aggregating data from consumer-oriented devices, such as wearable technologies and smart thermostats, are fairly well-understood. However, there are a new set of challenges for IoT devices that generate megabytes or gigabytes of data per second. Certainly, the infrastructure will have to change, as those volumes of data will likely overwhelm the available bandwidth for aggregating the data into a central repository. Ochandarena discusses a whole new way to think about your next-gen applications and how to address the challenges of building applications that harness all data types and sources.
