Steve Jobs Eats Humble Pie
Steve Jobs Admitted that MobileMe Was Launched Prematurely and Was "Not Up To Apple's Standards"

In an internal e-mail leaked to Ars Technica, Apple CEO Steve Jobs admitted that MobileMe, Apple’s panned flirtation with the cloud, was launched prematurely and was “not up to Apple’s standards.”

Remember? Even the Apple-loving Walt Mossberg over at the Wall Street Journal branded it “ragged” and unreliable.

The blog says Jobs said the services, which include synchronization, 20GB of storage, web-based apps and an online photo gallery, should have been rolled out individually, not all at once and that “it was a mistake to launch MobileMe at the same time as iPhone 3G, iPhone 2.0 software and the App Store. We all had more than enough to do, and MobileMe could have been delayed without consequence.”

He also says that “The MobileMe launch clearly demonstrates that we have more to learn about Internet services.”

The MobileMe unit has been reorganized and now reports to Eddy Cue, who now has all of Apple’s Internet services and reports directly to Jobs as Apple’s VP, Internet services.
