Former BEA Exec Joins Cloud Computing Provider GigaSpaces

John Giubileo Joins to Further Grow Company's Position in the Emerging Market for a New Generation of Application Platforms

GigaSpaces Technologies announced that John Giubileo has been named as the Company's general manager of the Americas. Giubileo will oversee all sales and go-to-market activities in the Americas, including business development, partnerships, channels and OEM actions.

Giubileo brings a wealth of knowledge and industry insight to GigaSpaces, having previously served as senior vice president and general manager of channels and strategic alliances at BEA prior to its acquisition by Oracle. In this role, Giubileo had responsibility for BEA's global strategic alliances (ISVs and SI), indirect sales and channel strategy, reporting directly the BEA executive leadership. His tenure at BEA began as senior vice president of engineering; responsible for global product development and delivery for the WebLogic platform offering. Prior to BEA, Giubileo oversaw and directly managed the eTrust product line at Computer Associates. Giubileo received a B.S. in Computer Science from the California University of Pennsylvania.

"Having learned closely about the Company and the market opportunity it addresses while at BEA, I am very eager to join the GigaSpaces team and contribute from my experience and knowledge," said Giubileo. "I believe the Company is poised to play a very significant role in the emerging market for a new-generation of application platforms that can give businesses and developers the ability to leverage the new computing paradigms of cloud computing and extreme transaction processing."

"John's vast understanding of the former BEA partner, channel and product-to-market landscape will undoubtedly strengthen GigaSpaces' overall position in the industry," said Yaron Benvenisti, CEO, GigaSpaces. "With the disappearance of BEA as an independent platform player, and the emergence of new computing paradigms, we believe the market is ripe for a new generation of vendors and technologies. I look forward to leveraging John's experience and background and working with him to capture a leadership position in this space."

Very few trends in IT have generated as much buzz as cloud computing. In his session at the 10th International Cloud Expo, Mark Hinkle, Director, Cloud Computing Community at Citrix, will cut through the hype and quickly clarify the ontology for cloud computing. The bulk of the conversation will focus on the open source software that can be used to build compute clouds (infrastructure-as-a-service) and the complementary open source management tools that can be combined to automate the management...
The proliferation of device connectivity is redefining the functionality requirements and capabilities of many embedded systems as more and more of these devices look to leverage the “Cloud.” While many commercial software and hardware component vendors have begun to realign their value propositions to satisfy growing demand, commercial-off-the-shelf products (COTS) alone cannot meet every OEM’s needs. As a result, the Embedded Cloud has injected a new level of uncertainty and a new competitive ...
