TimesTen Enables Voiceglo to Provide Real-Time VoIP Services

Real-Time Infrastructure Software Manages Active Calls, Ensures Real-Time Billing and Prevents Fraudulent Activity

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., April 25 /PRNewswire/ -- TimesTen, Inc., a provider of real-time infrastructure software, today announced that Voiceglo (BULLETIN BOARD: TGLO) , a global, full-service communications and networking company, has implemented the TimesTen(R)/DataServer real-time database system inside the company's VoIP network supporting its flagship product, GloPhone. TimesTen/DataServer manages time-critical network functions including call monitoring, tracking, real-time rating, depletion of prepaid balances and fraud control. TimesTen/DataServer was chosen for its high scalability, microsecond response times and standards-based architecture that enabled the TimesTen product to integrate easily with Voiceglo's existing infrastructure.

The proliferation of broadband connections into homes and businesses has been a catalyst for VoIP communications companies to offer new ways to make phone calls. VoIP is a fast-growing market as subscribers worldwide are seeking cheaper and more feature-rich alternatives to the offerings from traditional phone companies. This trend translates into an increased opportunity for VoIP communications companies to deliver primary and secondary phone service to residences and businesses over their existing broadband connections. To enable a quality user experience and retain customers, scalability, high availability and real-time access to subscriber information are essentials as the number of users and volume of calls increases exponentially over time. To meet these challenges, Voiceglo turned to TimesTen's proven DataServer product.

Voiceglo's Web- and PC-based GloPhone utilizes VoIP technology and enables users to access phone service through any PC in a user-friendly manner, helping millions worldwide connect with family, friends and colleagues at a cost far below traditional phone service.

Through the proprietary, patent-pending PC-based GloPhone, Voiceglo users can call each other while online (i.e. peer-to-peer calling), anywhere in the world for free. With a nominal subscription service, Voiceglo users can also make and receive calls to and from any regular phone or wireless phone. In addition, Voiceglo offers a USB phone for making calls in a traditional manner while connected to a computer, as well as an MTA/router accessory allowing ordinary phones to connect to the Voiceglo VoIP network.

According to Edward Cespedes, president of Voiceglo, "TimesTen provides the real-time infrastructure software required to support the rigorous scalability, real-time response and increasing volumes that VoIP services and networks need to accommodate."

"Voiceglo's GloPhone is an excellent example of the innovative VoIP offerings that are gaining rapid market traction with both consumers and enterprises," said Jim Groff, CEO, TimesTen, Inc. "In this competitive environment, VoIP communication companies will have to examine their infrastructures to ensure they can deliver reliable, high-quality services and a real-time, feature-rich experience," added Groff.

Cloud is a shift from the focus on underlying technology implementation to leveraging existing implementations and further building upon them. Cloud orchestration or a network of clouds is the wave of the future where these clouds can operate with elasticity, scalability, and efficiency.
