Unless there's another one floating around out there in the ether, the secret Open Cloud Manifesto is supposed to be unveiled on Monday, March 30, according Reuven Cohen, Co-Founder & Chief Technologist of Toronto-based cloud platform start-up Enomaly Inc.
Cohen claims that he and "several of the largest technology companies and organizations" have been drafting the manifesto the last few weeks. And although he says that there are "dozens of supporting companies," they are going public with it in hopes of "being ratified by the greater cloud community."
Cohen claims that he and his pals attempted to be inclusive and invited "most of the major names in technology to participate in the initial draft" - most, mind you - and that the manifesto is only a "line in the sand, a starting point for others to get involved."
In Cohen's mind the exercise is supposed to be the start of a dialogue.
It's also apparently only the start. The conspirators apparently intend to organize the existing Cloud Computing Interoperability Forum (CCIF) and the evangelizing Cloud Camp into a formal organization.
Folks like Cisco, Intel and Sun already belong to CCIF. Cloud Campers include Google, IBM, Amazon, Cisco, HP, Sun and Microsoft.
An opencloudmanifesto.org site is under construction. There's the beginnings of an Open Cloud Manifesto discussion group.
