Hosted Solutions Executives to Speak at SaaS Conference

Featuring Insights on Cloud Computing, Security

Hosted Solutions (www.hostedsolutions.com), the East Coast’s premier provider of IT infrastructure as a service (IaaS), today announced that two of its top executives will be featured speakers at a regional conference on Software as a Service (SaaS).

The conference will be conducted by UNC Charlotte’s College of Computing and Informatics, as the first in its new “Emerging Issues in Information Technology” seminar series.  It is designed to help buyers better understand the security, legal, performance and technical issues associated with the adoption of this technology.

The seminar will feature remarks from Chris “Kip” Turco, Hosted Solutions’ Chief Operating Officer, and Josh Wolff, the company’s regional manager in Charlotte.  Turco, a veteran of technology leaders such as Motricity and SunGard Availability Services, as well as a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy, will speak on how SaaS providers can leverage cloud computing to improve efficiency within their organizations.

At the same time, some firms have expressed concerns about the security of their corporate-critical data and systems if they are outsourced to a SaaS provider.  Wolff, the president of the Carolina SaaS User Group, will join a panel discussion on that topic, telling attendees that the concept of outsourcing data and infrastructure functions to a trusted provider has proven to help firms benefit from adopting the SaaS model, allowing them to realize significant gains in productivity as well as reducing their costs.

The conference will be held this coming Tuesday at UNC Charlotte’s McKnight Auditorium at the Cone University Center, beginning at 8:00 a.m.

2011 was a year of rapid adoption for public and private cloud services. Instant and on-demand server provisioning was the driving force behind the massive growth. On top, cloud server templates and script automation simplified application installation for simple and pre-defined application stacks, but have not targeted more complex enterprise application environments. As more enterprises are adopting clouds, the nature of cloud computing is changing. Previously, clouds were used to test applications or for non-mission critical applications.
