AirTran Airways Teams Up with the Make-A-Wish Foundation(R) to Sponsor Fantasy Vacation Fit for a Princess

ORLANDO, Fla., March 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc. , today announced that the airline has teamed up with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to sponsor a fantasy vacation for a special young girl. This inspirational child, Alliyah, wished to travel to the Walt Disney World(R) Resort with her family to celebrate her ninth birthday. AirTran Airways flew Alliyah and her family to Orlando, Fla. today, where they will enjoy star treatment every step of the way from the airport to the Magic Kingdom(R).

Since 2004, customers participating in A+ Rewards, AirTran Airways' frequent-flier program, have been able to donate earned credits to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Foundation will be able to use the banked miles to provide travel as part of granting children's wishes. AirTran Airways was the first airline to initiate a program where the company donates an additional mile for every mile contributed by its customers.

"AirTran Airways is a strong supporter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation," said AirTran Airways' president and chief operating officer Robert L. Fornaro. "Helping wish kids like Alliyah get to their dream destinations makes us extremely proud. Our unique one-for-one match program enables us to sponsor dream vacations for these children from all over the country."

"We're thrilled that AirTran Airways has taken this unprecedented step in support of children's wishes," said David Williams, President and CEO of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America. "We look forward to a progressive partnership that will grow a long way in helping their dreams come true."

AirTran Airways, one of America's largest low-fare airlines with 6,000 friendly, professional Crew Members, operates over 500 daily flights to more than 40 destinations. The airline's hub is at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, where it is the second largest carrier. AirTran Airways recently added the fuel-efficient Boeing 737-700 aircraft to create America's youngest all-Boeing fleet. The airline is also the first carrier to install XM Satellite Radio on a commercial aircraft. The airline's frequent flyer program, A+ Rewards, offers the industry's fastest free ticket and is the only program in the industry that offers free travel on any airline, anywhere in the world.
